I thought it was great. There were some moments that I wasn't overly blown away by. One of them was when he was on the radio and his wife/son/partner were all listening. Wouldn't they have recognized his voice?! I also thought a bit of the pacing was slow. That could be because we saw so many previews though.

    Otherwise, loved it!

I thought the premiere was amazing. It was both fascinating and unccormfortable to watch, and it was so cinematic! The gritty reality of the straight on shots of violece, gore, and corpses made me "believe."

I spent most of the time feeling tense and sorrowful - not a big fear factor there for me. The "walkers" seemed kind of helpless and pathetic (untill there were so many of them). The living seemed almost hopeless and pathetic, coping with the situation but not knowing how it came to be. The Walking Dead could apply to all of them.

I, too, thought it a little miraculous that his CB transmission was picked up by the exact camp his family was in. Good trick!

    I'm hooked.

I'll probably give it another chance, but at times I just felt like I stepped into a remake of Night of the Living Dead. LOL

I liked it. It sort of reminded me of The Stand, but with zombies, and everything is improved with the addition of zombies. I'll keep watching.

Another thing that I thought of and it was reaffirmed reading some of the comments was the helpless/hopelessness of the zombies. There aren't many movies that I remember watching where they have such human-like capabilities like attempting to open the door to the house or other things like that.

I felt very sad for the mother who kept trying to open the door although I was confused because it wasn't actually their house.. Perhaps she remembered her family was in there because that's where she turned into a walking dead? The half body dragging itself across the field........ I cannot get the image out of my head. It just seemed so sad.

    Re: The Walking Dead (AMC)

I thought the mother had heard/saw her boy crying, and that's why she was trying to get in.
Remember, the father said, cry in the pillow........so sad.

ETA: I read on the AMC site that only six episodes were ordered.
I hope with the outstanding ratings from the first episode, that a full season will be filmed. STAT
