I guess not much to say about Jeopardy?
I was impressed with the guy today who had 19,000.00 (or some such) and bet it all on a daily double.

    Current champ doing really well.

Who here watched the ToC? We got a couple of memorable moments. Namely one of Kara's responses and Roger's two all-in bets on back-to-back DDs in the final.

    Re: Jeopardy!

I watched the TOC. There was an article about Roger where he said he had developed an app that helped him train for the various segments of knowledge and that he's looking into releasing it for other Jeopardy fans.

    The current champion is good.

How did I not know this thread existed? Jeopardy! is my all-time favorite game show — and I was a contestant in 2002.

    Re: Jeopardy!

Good and bad news, all in one weekend:

BuzzerBlog: Todd Newton and “Jeopardy!” Win at 2012 Daytime Emmy Awards

Last night HLN presented the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Good luck if you found the network. Let’s be honest: most of us only cared about the awards for best game show and best game show host. We had a major upset in the Outstanding Game Show Host category. Todd Newton, host of The Hub’s Family Game Night, which was just brought back from near-cancellation for a third season, took the award home. Todd beat Meredith Vieira, Wayne Brady, and the expected winner Ben Bailey.

We’re very happy to see Todd get recognized for the show. We weren’t expecting it and I doubt many were (that was not a knock at his obvious talent). However, he definitely deserves it. This is the style of show he’s always been good at and for such a small show to be recognized like that is a major accomplishment and very telling of Todd’s abilities. Congratulations, and we hope this trend can continue in the future.

Jeopardy! took home the other genre award: Outstanding Game/Audience Participation Show. The Alex Trebek hosted quizzer beat BrainSurge, Let’s Make A Deal, Wheel of Fortune, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and the expected winner Cash Cab. This is the second straight year Jeopardy! won. We get so few hard, fast quiz shows in this country that I’m always relieved when they get recognized.

Happy with the results? I know I am. I’m well on the record saying I can’t quite understand why people feel Cash Cab is the greatest show on the planet and deserving of all these awards.
Alex Trebek Heart Attack: 'Jeopardy!' Host Hospitalized

The Huffington Post | By Kia Makarechi Posted: 06/24/2012 3:10 pm Updated: 06/24/2012 3:41 pm

'Jeopardy!' host Alex Trebek has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack Saturday. The 71-year-old television personality was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and remained under observation Sunday, The Wrap reports.

Sony, which produces the show, released a statement which said Trebek was in good spirits. He is expected to recover in time to begin filming the show's upcoming 29th season. Filming is slated for July.

Here is Sony's statement, via THR: “Trebek is in good spirits and is currently under observation and undergoing further testing. He is expected to fully recover and be back at Jeopardy! when production begins taping in July for the new season, the show's 29th.”

Trebek also suffered a heart attack in 2007. That incident was also mild in nature, and the host was soon back at work. More recently, he injured his Achilles tendon while chasing down a burglar in July of last year.
Here's hoping for a speedy recovery. But it's interesting that only a month or two ago, he was fueling speculation that he might retire from the show in the near future...

    Re: Jeopardy!

    Anyone watching?

The Teen Tournament is in its semifinals now. Immediately after this tournament ends (next Tuesday), the Tournament of Champions begins (next Wednesday).

The ToC will have two Teacher Tournament winners, the last College Champion and the first ever female 7-timer.

Our current champ, Jason, is now a 6-day champ after running this week.
He won nine games altogether and is coming back as well, along with the luckiest 5-time champ of all time. Some guy who, in his six games, never got a Final Jeopardy right and never had a dominating lead. He has 10 people to thank for his wins for them either not wagering as much as they should have, or not being able to get FJ right either.

    Should be good.
