Hawaii 5-0 remake

I enjoyed it. It has plenty of eye-candy to keep me interested and I wasn't bored by it so at least it held my attention and that is very hard to do! I do have a bit of a hard time with the whole above the law blanket statement the governor laid out for them. I'll have to see what happens in the next episode to see where they take things.

I liked it as well, but I was expecting it to be more like the original (although, I was very young at the time, so I don't remember it that well).

This was kind of like a combination of Hawaii-5-0 and The A-Team.

This is not quite the '2.0' vision or version.. that was the first draft that it was McGarrett's son Chris as the lead. However that idea was killed in script. The concept for the show as it is now came about in late 2009.. and I am for one thankful that it was reworked with different writers and director because I think it would be too much to do a second generation cast and concept on this show. Hawaii Five-O is far too iconic to mess with it THAT much or expect believability.

That all being said.. i did enjoy this show.. even if I think it was a bumpy start to it, as if they tried to pack too much in and it resulted in some disjointedness (is that a word?? lol) I think it will settle in and find it groove in a few weeks, it has all the elements :)

I also did not know much about Grace Park, but I liked her character, too. It was nice to see Jean Smart as the governor, which was a recurring role in the old show and I assume it will be again.

Grace Park was Boomer on the updated Battlestar Galactica. She was a spit-fire on that show and appears to be one on this show too.

Thanks. Although I'm a major science fiction fan, I didn't watch much of Battlestar because, for me, the original, though campy, was much more fun.

Nor did I watch Alex O'Loughlin's previous series and haven't yet seen The Backup Plan, which is somewhere in my rental queue.

I just wish that Hawaii Five-0 and Castle weren't competing for viewers in the same time slot.

I will be taping H-5O and watching Castle. Love Castle! Don't have a definite opinion of 5O yet.

I saw about 5 minutes and actually like Scott Caan the best. He just seemed the most natural.
Can't say I was overly excited by the show. It looks like it won its time slot by a pretty narrow margin. However, compared to last year's CSI Miami season opener, it was down quite a bit in the ratings.

CBS has been really banking on this show to do great in the time slot. Its gotten more hype than 95% of their schedule. So, I hope it picks up steam.

Thanks for the info! I wasn't sure where/when I had read/heard that info. I enjoyed it, but not knowing/watching the original for anything to compare it to, I wasn't sure whether or not it was a 2.0.

The idea has been tossed around since 96, with Gary Busey in it.. thank gawd THAT didnt happen!

Oh, my, I agree on Gary Busey not being part of this show!

I didn't like it - I'll try it again next week since it was the premiere episode, but if it doesn't improve I won't bother after that. A show needs to make me want to see it again, this one did not.
