It was a wonderful episode. The foreshadowing of Doris doing what she did was very clear almost from her first scene, but Christine Lahti can certainly pull it off. I'm eager to see more of that story arc develop.

I also love Chin Ho and Kono and would love to see more of them than we do.

Of course, being married to a Daniel Dae Kim character doesn't give much hope for longevity. I'm eager to see Yunjin Kim in ABC's midseason show Mistresses and I'll be watching for a premiere date.

, exactly what I thought when she died! His grief was played really well (trying not to say he's had practice at it, but can't resist!).
I was surprised "mom" left after one episode, given that

Big fan of the show, but I was disappointed.
Hated that they killed his wife off.
I'm in the minority here...not a fan of Christine Lahti....never have been.
I don't like that they brought Steve's mom back and I'm growing weary of the whole WoFat story (tho Mark Decascos is very handsome)

Wo Fat has been a large part of Hawaii 5-0' mythology back since the original series. I like it and I think Mark Dacascos is doing a very good job. The supporting characters, main and recurring, add so much to the show.

I know...I used to watch the original.
I just don't like how they've handled in this first episode.

I knew last season when Chin got married that his wife wasn't long for this world. She broke one of the cardinal rules of series TV. She married one of the regular stars. That's the kiss of death & has been for as long as there's been series TV.

I also knew "Mom" let WoFat go the minute McGarrett opened the door & she was standing there unharmed. The two of them were pros, & at best one of them would have been dead or near death, & the other probably injured.

Also, the previews!!! (I can't do jumping smilies on this computer, so consider them here.) Ed Asner is back!
His episode last season was one of my very favorites & I was hoping they'd bring him back as a recurring baddie.
    Can't wait.

I agree with you Miss Scarlett. I can't wait to watch Ed Asner on tonight's episode!

Re tonight's episode...so that's the end of August March??? They killed him off??? No more Ed Asner on this show...ever? Well that SUCKS!

And that opening scene with the tribute to Chin's wife with all the surfers in the water was touchingly beautiful. And good ole Doris McGarrett is still on the island? This should be interesting...

Haven't seen it yet (only 7:45 on my clock) but I hate that they'll be killing off Ed Asner's character. I liked him in the original, and was thrilled that they brought him back. Damn.

OTOH, Christine Lahti is still here? Yay!

And paddle-outs are very touching; they're part of SoCal culture (among surfers), too. I'm glad that the writers included that for Chin's murdered wife.

Looks like Momma McGarrett will be on next week's upcoming episode.
