    Re: Fall 2010 Schedules

I will make time to watch Big Bang Theory whenever it's on, and since I will be in front of the tv for CSI (the original), it won't be a big deal to get there 30 minutes early. HOWEVER . . . . I'm not really all that thrilled that it's now up against Bones.

Looks like I'm going to have to get with technology and get the dvr thing going on in my house!

    Discuss the Fall 2010 PILOTS

No, we haven't seen them. But we can get a pretty good idea of them from this:

Fall TV Trailers 2010 | Television Shows

That link leads to a Hollywood Reporter collection with all the stuff shown at the Up Fronts.

Focus here is not on the total schedule or competition (I believe there's another thread for that) but to comment on the new shows one by one, without having to dump a whole new topic down (yet) for each one. Just post any general feelings about the pilots here, and when they get closer to reality as shows, I'm sure we'll make topics for each.

Okay, here's one. JJ Abrams new spy show on NBC, Undercovers.

Go to that link above and watch the promo. Almost immediately you spot one thing. Not one, but BOTH leads are people of color. And the show seems to act completely and totally colorblind about that. Wow. Way to go, JJ. It looks well made, if a little generic, otherwise. Although the inclusion of Gerald McRaney? Always a HUGE plus. He's made of win.

Here's another. The guys who made the Sopranos seem to be the ones making Tom Selleck's new show on CBS, Blue Bloods. NEVER would have imagined Selleck as the next Gandolfini. Anyway, the cast on this thing? FREAKING INCREDIBLE. Selleck. Donnie Wahlberg. Will Estes. Bridget Moynahan. These is a rather imposing ensemble.

And of course there's Shatner's sitcom on CBS, with the jokey name. Shatner playing an a-hole Dad, basically. Remember that show with Christopher Titus where Stacy Keach played the a-hole Dad? Its that show. But with Shatner, and Nicole Sullivan and Will Sasso, which is probably a better cast.

I think CBS wants to use a strong show (BBT) to lead in a new show. Using a successful show to woo more viewers to a new show is typical, and all of the Monday slots were full (also they probably want to take over a new night). I guess we will see how successful that will be.

I read an article, with interviews of the CBS execs, that basically confirmed that. Basically, they wanted to use a really successful show (which BBT is) to lead off a new comedy and help them capture some of the Thursday night market (since it is typically a big tv night).

That was my initial impression when I read the schedule. I also think it's possible that they promised Bill Shatner a strong lead in as an inducement to get him to do the new show in the first place. He certainly doesn't have to work unless he wants to, although I think he usually wants to.

I think Moving CSI Miami to Sunday against Football and Brother's and Sisters will kill it off

I agree it does too. I only wonder though if the death spot was Friday night where CSINY is or where Miami will be.

I am kinda hoping that Hawaii Five-O is going to be good. It probably won't be, but one can dream that CBS can finally give Alex O'Laughlin a show that lasts more than one season, since he is such a cutie.
