Yes, I discovered Birdsong sort of by accident and TIVO'd both parts --- so glad I did because I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. And I was also surprised to find out that English actor Eddie Redmayne, who played the hero, will be co-starring as Marius in the new Les Miserables film that's coming out soon. Curious about his singing voice, I went looking for him on YouTube --- where there aren't a lot of videos of him singing, but there are a few --- and he really does have a beautiful voice.

I have been watching series 1 of Sherlock on Netflix over the last couple of weeks. It took me a bit longer than expected to get through that show since the episodes are each 1 1/2 hours long! I just finished the last episode last Friday. Since it ended in a cliff-hanger I immediately went to Google to look for when series 2 would be available on Netflix. Low-and-behold, I discovered that series 2 is airing on Masterpiece Classics starting Sunday (yesterday)!! Last night's episode is all ready to watch on my DVR! Perfect timing for the win!!!

I am disappointed in the new Sherlock. I just believe that some stories belong in the era in which they were written and the Holmes stories fit there for me. I do think the actors are excellent, but Sherlock using texting and e=mal just doesn't fit for me. The worst was Irene Adler as a dominatrix sex worker was the worst and the only actress I did not find at all believable.

Next week's episode will modernizing Hound of the Baskervilles, one of my favorite Sherlock stories, so I'll record and watch, and hope for better.

Wow, Florimel, I LOVED Irene Adler. She's a perfect foil for Sherlock. That moment when she touches Sherlock's wrist? That was like the PBS equivalent to porn!

As an aside, Lara Pulver, who plays Irene Adler, is married (although they're separated) to Josh Dallas who plays Charming on Once Upon a Time.

I'm so glad the season is finally airing in this country, so I can start talking about it here!

I loved Irene too Critical!! Last night's epi was fabulous - I too am "Sherlocked"! Luckily for me, I'm not a Holmes purist, so I'm just enjoying the series on it's own merit. And from what I hear I will have to break down and watch on-line after all. Apparently PBS doesn't show the full BBC version I wonder how they decide which shows go to PBS and which get shown on BBC America? Oh, and I guess it's a good thing Lara and Josh are separated - considering he's supposedly dating Ginnifer Goodwin. I wonder which came first....

I know someone who thinks it is THE most romantic thing that Josh and Ginnifer are dating. She didn't know that he's still married. Whatever, it's their business but, for me, married is a deal breaker. Get divorced and then we'll talk. People get separated and then reconcile all the time and I don't want to be in the middle of that!

Sherlock was really paying attention to Irene to know her measurements!

I normally don't like it when producers change the era like they've done with this series, but I think it absolutely works. I also think Benedict and Martin are perfect as Sherlock and Holmes. Casting is everything and they got it exactly right.

This was my very favorite episode of the entire series, although episode 1 from each season are also right up there! I wouldn't want the whole series going forward to be just about Sherlock vs. Moriarty, but he's definitely a worthy adversary. He's a brilliant sociopath.....I guess they both are, but Sherlock uses his powers for good!

This series 2 finale was AWESOME!!! I just love Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Holmes and Watson, and Andrew Scott is a brilliant Moriarty!! I appreciate the modern take on this story and truly hope they have another series!

Series 3 is set to air in 2013, so I'm guessing it will be around the same time next year. I can't wait!

Thank you! I was hoping there would be a season 3 - I enjoy this Sherlock version!
I thought Irene was perfect for Sherlock and loved the mind play between them. I look forward to the next season and hope it will be longer!
Anyone heard if there will be another Foley's War?
