Thanks for letting me know about the program on Olmstead, inthegarden! He designed the grounds for the 1893 World's Colombian Exhibition in Chicago. One of my favorite books is Devil in the White City, Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair that Changed America http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss...il%2Caps%2C312, an account of the building of the Fair in Chicago, an enormous feat by the top architects of the time! The "Devil" in the title refers to a cunning serial killer who used the fair to lure in his dozens of victims. The juxtaposition of the two makes for a fascinating story.

I saw that. Will they replay it on your PBS station?

It looks like they will encore episode 1 tonight at 9 p.m., with episode 2 to be shown on Sunday.

Wonder why they are being so snooty?

They are not airing The Escape Artist, part I, instead they are airing Endeavour, series 1. They are airing part II , Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Olmstead had several different types of jobs before he founded Landscape Architecture. His bio is very interesting.
I'll look for that book Punkin. Thanks!

I just finished watching The Escape Artist. Very interesting story! I enjoyed it.

Was this a sole two part story made for television or are there other Masterpiece productions with this character (the male lawyer) as the lead?

I enjoyed The Escape Artist too. It is part of the "Masterpiece Mystery Series". Next Sunday "Masterpiece Mystery" continues with the Inspector Morse series.

I saw Part 1 of Escape Artist, although I missed the first 10 minutes so I missed the setup. But I enjoyed what I saw enough to seek out the rest.

On another Masterpiece subject, Downton Abbey doesn't premiere in the UK for another 3 months (or in the US for 6 1/2 months), but ITV has already put out the first teaser trailer for season 5:

Yay! Season 2 of Last Tango in Halifax starts TONIGHT! (It's being re-run on PBS later tonight as well, for those who missed it>)

I watched most of "Vicious" last night. Loved everyone in it . . . but the show has no charm, and I didn't care for it at all. Disappointed.

I thought Escape Artist was OK....better in some parts than in others.
