| Re: Harper's Island I read this over at Home Media Magazine and not sure if it is just hype, but it leaves me feeling hopeful: "In an apparent first, CBS Corp. April 27 said increased time-shifting and second-day streaming contributed to its decision to switch the network broadcast of weekly horror series “Harper’s Island” to Saturday from Thursday, beginning May 2. The rookie series will air at 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST/PST. Citing Nielsen’s seven-day digital video recorder (DVR) playback results compared to network broadcast ratings, the “Harper’s Island” premiere audience on DVR increased 29% among adults aged 18-49, 33% among adults 18-34, 25% in adults 25-54 and gained 1.64 million viewers (11.3 million from 9.6 million). The premiere was also the biggest online premiere ever on CBS.com, delivering more video streams (combined clips and episodes) than any previous show launch for the network. The series, in which select cast members are killed off on a weekly basis, continues to be the fastest-growing series in CBS.com’s history. “This move gives us an opportunity to improve the time period on Thursday while experimenting with more original programming on Saturday, and continuing to serve an audience that is clearly engaged in the ongoing ‘Harper's Island’ story,” said Kelly Kahl, senior EVP prime time, CBS Television. Independent analyst Rob Enderle said time shifting and digital streaming continue to change the home entertainment landscape. He said the DVR and electronic distribution allow content owners to make programming instantly available without having to spread distribution over weeks of time. Enderle said “Harper’s Island” underscores the fact that content length (i.e. episodic versus movie) can, like books and music, not be a limitation but an opportunity to tell longer stories regardless of the broadcast window. “This is big, this is a network saying that a program no longer needs a top time slot because of time shifting,” Enderle said. “Even that will eventually evaporate with digital streaming.”

| Re: Harper's Island Here's what it boils down to - not enough people were watching it so they're switching it to Saturdays. Also, as they're getting a younger demographic they're hoping to capitalize on DVR and online viewing, as well. If they hd enough viewers on Thursday nights in US, no matter the age, they would have kept it on at that time. Their viewership dropped quite a lot from their lead in, CSI. My friend works for CBS. It's all about ratings in TV land.

| Re: Harper's Island Wellll... allllrighty, then. [[ Joel Booth was the one who died. Henry and the groomsmen found the boat where Hunter died and Uncle Marty's gun and money. They drew straws to decide who would hide the money. Joel got the short straw. So he went into the woods to hide the money, but heard something so he pulled out the gun, but it turned out it was just Malcolm following him. But the gun went off. Joel ended up shooting himself in the leg and bleeding out. ]] That's just a summary. ![]() |

| Re: Harper's Island *spoiler about tonight's episode* Well I have to admit that [[Joel is looking good as the killer now. That leg wound could have so easily been faked. He knew Malcolm needed the money and would most likely follow him. And another clue was when they were fishing and one of them, Henry I think, mentioned Joel couldn't swim. Yeah, that's just what you'd want people to think so that you can scuba dive and tie someone up under a boat without any suspicion falling on you! If Joel is the killer, then I'm thinking he must be Wakefiled's son, which would make him Abby's half-brother if Wakefield is her father from an affair. Kind of makes me think of Michael Meyers and him being Jamie Lee Curtis's brother. But if Joel's body is found then I'm back to my theory that Abby was so traumatized by her mother's death that she developed a split personality and her "male" persona, maybe Wakefield himself, is the one doing the killing. Aside from Madison having some psychic activity, she seemed almost normal this episode, even likeable. And I think some events are unrelated to the killing, such as Trish almost drowning. I think her brother-in-law set it up so that he could save her, hoping she might keep quiet about his affair with step-mom. ]]

![]() I think that Booth is still a suspect. That scene was so strange to me. If Booth is the killer, he'd obviously know that Malcolm was going to follow him. Malcolm mentioned on three occasions he was broke and really needed the money. It makes sense that he would try to follow Booth to see where he hid it. The scene with Trish in the pool freaked me out. I have a fear of drowning even though I'm a pretty good swimmer. I believe it's due to seeing a scene from a movie just like this one. A woman decided to jump into a pool for a late night swim and somehow a sheet of glass was floating at the top of the water and she drowned while trying to get out from under it. I was a young girl when I saw that scene and I cannot remember which movie it was from. According to the psychic someone wants Abby dead. Why? Is it because her father killed John Wakefield? Why not kill the Sheriff? You know, the one who killed him. Why his daughter? | |
