What the writers have done a number of weeks in a row is have at least one big scene with a character early in the show--usually in the first or second quarter of the story--and then they do not come back to the character at all until the end when that character is discovered to be the perp.

This happened Monday night with the recycle company guy and it happened the week when the rich mother/her AA were guilty of killing the girlfriend etc I think it's happened previous to that but I try not to remember plots of other people's stories so they don't get mixed into my own writing. :nod

BTW--in the earlier parts of an episode the usual suspects (the ones who end up not being the perps) get just about even numbers of scenes apiece.

I agree with you all on the family dynamics on this show--just so positive--his pride in his daughter, their love for crazy grandma/mother... and except for her tension about her mother's death Beckett fits very well into their circle. There's nothing about the grandmother trying to sabotage their relationship, etc. Plus the work dynamics of the inner group are also very positive. It makes it a pleasure to watch, it's so well done--positive without being gooey.

Me too! I almost suspected her because, after all, she is a cut-throat bitch!

I think that role following her is a good thing. If not for that role, I never would've known or cared about Anne Dudek - and she's a terrific actress.

That 'Icehole' line was a thing of beauty. I almost choked on my coffee.

WindDancer, I agree. For decades when a big name guest stars on a crime show, he/she is the perp at least 90% of the time.
