Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.' - Isaac Asimov
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"
Thanks, all. I'm delighted to hear there will be more. I watch so many of the new shows and repeats, I forgot how many eps per season there are. Oh well, I may have to withdraw a cheer or two if there is a cliffhanger, but that still leaves more cheers than most shows ever earn from me.

they only added one episode. It's hardly noticeable.

Great end for the 2 parter. I liked everything about it.
"Some of us learn from other people's mistakes and the rest of us have to be other people."
Me too, Miss Scarlet!
My heart was in my throat when Castle saw that floor-stained van in part one.
I could watch the scene of Rick and his Dad in the woods a hundred times over. I just loved when his Dad told him that if he was so worried about his $200 phone, he was probably going to want to go pick up that 3 million dollar briefcase. Now we know where Castle gets his wit and sarcasm from.
Lastly, there's nothing better than learning at the end that you were handed a clue early on that you missed. Remember when his mother was telling him that she knew in her heart that her granddaughter was going to be fine? And Rick teased her that her heart hadn't always been right, reminding her about her past loves. Not only was she right in heart that Alexis would be fine, she was right in her heart about Rick's Dad, because he, in fact, was/is a good man.
Great show. Anxious to see the next one!
Baby's Breath, I have to agree with you about the scene in the woods. I've watched it several times myself. James Brolin isn't a favorite of mine, but he was perfect in that part.
There were sooo many good scenes in that episode. There wasn't as much "Rick and Kate" action which was actually nice. I like not having their relationship a huge part of the plot each week. (Otherwise, it would get old fast.)
Last night's episode was amazingly good. It was a serious one. Ryan centric, and showed off his talent superbly. The lighter touches came mostly at the beginning and end. I will watch it again.
I'm very much looking forward to next week. The end of show promos looked as if they are doing a Rear Window take with Rick in the Jimmy Stewart role.

Did anyone watch last night? It was SO GOOD!
Det. Ryan (Seamus Dever) was awesome carrying the show. I know that he is a trained Shakespearean actor, and this really gave him a chance show show his acting chops. I enjoyed the last two shows before this as well, and look forward to next week's 100th episode inspired by "Rear Window."
I was afraid Castle was getting stale but instead, it just keeps getting better.
