This isn't the last season of the show. Kurt Sutter has said for a while that he's planned out seven seasons.

I normally watch SOA on my treadmill while working out but with this being the premiere and 1.5 hours long I have decided to actually sit on the couch and watch and listen....I normally have the closed captioning on and I normally read but I really want to watch this episode....and from the sounds of things I have made the correct decision....cannot wait to eat lunch and watch it...so excited!

Good season premier. Lots of directions this can take.

I think my favorite was Chibs and Juice. I mean, Chibs was straight up honest with Juice about what he had to do. Juice took it like a man. And then to see Chibs caring for Juice afterward? Touching.

Tig, Tig, Tig. What can we say

Lee Toric? Dude is off the chain. Drug problem anyone? I definitely didn't see that coming.

Gemma? I do not care for mean/bad-ass Gemma. I totally disliked how she was with the lawyer lady (Robin Weigert who I loved on Deadwood!!!!).

The blonde kid? Yeah, didn't see that coming either. Apparently the actor is a local boy and his mother is friends with another friend of mine. Small world

Personally I find these humane mouse traps rather ineffective. Better to lay down some glue and when you hear the critter scream you take a shovel to his head.

Don't quite get the relationship of the child's mother to Dave Navarro's character though.

So I'm not too sure what kind of direction this season will take - a new threat from the Iranian pornographers? Peter Weller's weird ex-cop (ex-Robocop? ) ending up as friend or foe? Nero and Jax falling out?

Lee Toric a junkie...interesting twist that I guess will be his eventual downfall. Only question is who will use and exploit it - Clay, Jax, or maybe Tara?

I hate that Pope's crew is still after Tig. I really hope the character is spared...the club is getting a bit thin. I commented to my husband that the opening credits are getting shorter and shorter.
I'll put this in spoilers, just in case:

I read an article with Kurt Sutter on the premiere episode. He hoped people would initially think it was a young Jax. The child is the son of someone related to Nero. He pointed to a throwaway episode last season, I think, where Jax gave the guns to Nero. Sutter said this will be a big shift and focus on the next two seasons - the realization by everyone, including Jax and the town, as to where the guns came from and the realization by the MC that their actions really do have real world consequences that they don't necessarily think about.

I have never watched this show before last night. I had always heard about it. I saw the previews for this season's start over the last few days and it peaked my interest. I will admit to reading all 39 pages of this thread to see what you all thought. Last night I figured I would give it a chance, so I started with the series premiere (first 4 seasons are on Netflix). Yep, 10 minutes in and I was hooked! So I will be DVR'ing this season and watching the first 4 seasons over the next few weeks. Then I'm sure I can find season 5 somewhere. My goal is to be caught up by the finale this year, so next year I will actually be able to chat with you all in real time! But thanks for getting me hooked - your posts over the last 5 years about how good this show was definitely pushed me over the edge to give it a try and I am really glad that I did!

Excellent, another addict. I love the spoiler, thank you - it makes perfect sense. Kurt Sutter really is an visionary. The introduction of the school shooter takes the show to a whole new level.

About Tara's hair - I thought that maybe a jailhouse bully had chopped off her ponytail. Man, is it awful.

Is anyone else thinking they should just put poor Otto out of his misery at this point? Poor guy has had the worse life this past couple of years. Eyes gouged out, wife murdered, tongue (self) bitten off, so now he's wifeless, eyeless AND tongue-less AND getting raped in prison...geez...

Hah...both him and Unser...dunno how the old guy is still alive after being terminally ill with cancer since what, season 2?

Otto is really a catalyst for major plot points - he's the one responsible for Bobby's arrest, Tara now being in jail, and he foiled the RICO investigation. He also whupped Agent Stahl's ass (besides Opie, that is one character I really miss). I can't see him lasting through season 7, but I think he must have a part in whatever happens this season with Lee Toric.

Otto has most definitely helped propel some major plotlines along the way, so I suppose that's why Kurt keeps the character around.

I hear you on Unser. I'd have thought he'd have been long gone before now. Every since he retired from the police department, I've been assuming his character is going to just drop dead or be killed. I'm sure it'll be the latter, but then who knows. I can't see him lasting until the end of season 7 though.

Speaking of characters dying off, I love the "In Memory of Opie" patches the boys are wearing on their jackets. Very fitting.

To me, the best part is Kurt Sutter plays the role! LoL! I mean, Otto's been thru a crapton of stuff from the mind of Kurt himself. Who better to play this twisted, tortured man!
