Re: LOST - Season Four

Richard saw Ben as a child, as young Ben had wandered outside the Dharma compound and Ben was hanging out with his dead mother when Richard came across him and realized that Ben belonged with the Others instead of the Dharmites. I'm pretty sure that was the first time Richard had come across Ben.

So Claire is telling Kate not to bring Aaron back? A couple episodes ago, was Charlie's message to Jack through Hurley that Jack shouldn't raise Aaron? So, Claire isn't supposed to let Aaron be raised by another (or an Other - eek, eek), but she wants Kate to keep him in California and not take him back to Lost Island. Tough one.

I think Ben and John are maybe only a couple of years apart in age.

Really? Wow, to me John looks nearly old enough to be Ben's dad.
Well, if they are really close in age then maybe they are half brothers!

Not if John's mother was only 16 when she had him in 1953 (or whatever year it was). When Ben's mom was giving birth to him on the island, she looked considerably older than that.

Re: LOST - Season Four

I think it's open to speculation as to whether Ben and John might be half brothers. If Emily had John at 16 and then married Ben's father 5 to 10 years later and gave birth to Ben, she would have been in her mid twenties, which is what Ben's mother looked like to me as I remember. That would make Ben, say, five to ten years younger than John, which I also think could be possible. Or not. It still seems significant that both mothers have the same name.

A big however is that we saw John's supposed real mother (played by Swoosie Kurtz) much later in life and Ben's mother apparently died giving birth. I can think of a few ways that could be gotten around, but I think we can be fairly certain that John's father really was his biological father because of the kidney tissue match.

BTW, thank you Brooks for letting me know that Sun did actually use the word 'dead' about Jin, which I think is an important point. I still cling to hope that he's alive.

I still hope the boat full of red shirts picked up Jin and made it back to the island...after all Sawyer jumped in not that long before the explosion and still had time to swim back a long way... with a motor they might have made it.... especially if they were caught in the island's time warp.... or if the island took some "water" with it.

I thought we saw Jin alive in the Sun centric flash foreward episode - just prior to when Sun and Hurly went to Jin's grave.

Jin was indeed in that episode, but his scenes were flashbacks (to the time shortly after he married Sun, and he was working as her dad's henchman). Sun's scenes were flashforwards and she was giving birth without him. The tricky powers that be made it seem like they were both in the same time period...but little things like the size of his cell phone gave it away that his scenes were in a much earlier time period...

Re: LOST - Season Four

okay...I looked back at the discussion for that episode and found

Quote:
We had flash forwards last night with Sun and Jin had flash backs. He was much younger and the year of the dragon was 2000. The date on the tombstone was 9/22/2004 the date the plane crashed. Also there's a phrase on the tombstone that means an empty tomb.

I would tend to think not, because Ben seems to know everything about everyone, so he should know that, but I don't think he acts as though it could be true.
