Tin Man

Is anyone watching this miniseries on SciFi?
I'm really enjoying it. Quite a different take on the Wizard of Oz.

*I couldn't find a previously started thread on this - both words are too short for the search

Re: Tin Man

My husband and I have been watching this. I like it but DG really grates on my nerves. I don't know if it's the actress or the way the character is written. I think the story is an interesting twist on an old favorite and can't wait for the last installment tonight.

Re: Tin Man

Im watching part two again tonight! I cant wait to see the third installment in just 45 minutes. I think the retelling is way fun! I joined this discussion site just to respond to the original posting and say that I have been watching it and enjoying it greatly. It's actually been the highlight of my last few days... over going to the mall and the beach (is that sad?... but then again I really love fantasy films, books, etc.)

Re: Tin Man

Welcome to the FoRT, believe-n-magic! Stick around, it's a great place to spend some time.

I watched the first installment and really liked it. Then I missed the second one (both yesterday and tonight) so I can't watch the third. I'll have to wait until it's convenient for me. But I'm sure the Sci Fi channel will repeat it a bunch of times.

I felt the opposite. Most actresses grate on my nerves, but not this one! We have always liked Zooey Deschanel - she was in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Elf - I was thinking the whole time that the miniseries would not have worked if they didn't have her in that role. I also always loved Alan Cumming, who played the "scarecrow" part. And I had never seen the actor who played the Tin Man, but he was very good. The only one I didn't like was the dad, who was a little creepy.

Hubby spotted the sister (Kathleen Robertson) as the crippled girl in Psycho Beach Party (which was also the first time we saw Amy Adams!)... looks like she's had a boob job since then. To paraphrase Wayne's World, this miniseries gave us, "When monkeys fly out of my boobs." Lol. Seriously, I loved the way it reminded us of so many classics, like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Blade Runner, on and on.

MrCoz and I watched the series yesterday. We really enjoyed it. We both liked the quirky references back to the original. When the sisters saw the bear, that was classic, also the "flashback" to the movie.

Re: Tin Man

I taped the entire series and then went back and watched it all at once. I really enjoyed it! I also appreciated the quirky references and I liked the way they represented all of the original characters without having a literal representation of each of them (i.e., Raw and Glitch weren't actually a lion and a scarecrow). Good job on this one Sci-Fi channel!!
