Me, too. I love all the women. There's always reruns. They're on back-to-back here.
I'm not so sure there's been much character growth since S3, aside from Amy being slightly less annoying. I will give props for the delivery of the amygdala joke in the last episode, as it was the high point of the show.
I hope Sheldon's assistant is a one-episode character, or just back-ground recurring like Kripke or Will Wheaton. There's a point when the cast becomes so bloated that no story strand is sufficiently written. We're up to 7 main actors, with Stuart being added in the main cast. It's a 22 minute show...I don't want this to become sitcom's "True Blood", which is the prime example of character bloat.
I like how the women get along in spite of their different IQs and areas of expertise. The men seem to always be getting digs in at each other over that. I'm hoping the assistant is just a catalyst to get Penny back on track with Leonard. I can't imagine she would put up with Sheldon's idiosyncrasies for long.

I think I read somewhere thatClick to see Spoiler:Leonard and Penny would both have new love interests for at least part of this season, so perhaps that's where the new girl comes in. If that's the case, it doesn't really bother me; they've been set up to be and on again, off again couple. I think they'll stay that way until the series is done.
I agree with the conclusion of your spoiler. That's their role and it will be hard to change without ending the show.
I have read the same spoiler. Could be interesting.
