Stephen King's "The Stand" Mini Series on SciFi...

    OK...

So I can't believe I watched the WHOLE THING last night... All eight hours minus the commercials (about 5.5 hours)... (And I seldom watch a full length movie on the premium channels...) I had seen it back in the day, but being totally immersed in it with no breaks was a whole "nother" experience...

I still say they wrecked the opening from the absolutely compelling first chapter of the book, but I still found it the most compelling TV in years - (and I didn't miss the whole LONG exchanges in the desert that I remember skimming in the book)...

    Did anyone else watch?

    Please??

    ;0))

I hadn't seen it since it's first time around - and that was in a very fringe TV area, so my experience left a lot to be desired... I was amazed after all these years at the quality of the cast... Jamey Sheridan was absolutely fantastic... <shudder>

Right down to "Harold" being the the new guy on Stargate SG1...

And Gary Sinese looked a lot better before he bulked up and his head got too small for his muscles...

I did not recognize Ruby Dee... But I did recognize Max Headroom...

That Laura San Giacomo got a sitcom is really a tribute to her skills... And then went back to type on Saving Grace...

Anyway, it's great to share that experience with you, bbnbama

I practically have that movie memorized. That is my favorite book. My only problem with the movie is that I don't think Molly Ringwald was a good Fran. Other than that, the casting was excellent.

Hahah... Molly Ringwold... DH agrees with you completely.. His assessment was an "EH"... (I noted she has very large ears... So that was one of the only things that broke my concentration in the whole marathon...)

That book was the last, I think, in my line of the great books I have read - and the only one of Stephen King's that qualifies for me... (I think bifocals had a lot to do with that... )

Starting in college, On the Road... Atlas Shrugged... The Fountainhead... (never got through anything but the prurient passages of (JJ's) Ulysses (time frame...)

Kane and Abel was another... And then a myriad of SciFis... The DragonRiders of Pern, the most memorable, after Dune...

    Sorry, I got carried away...

That's ok...I still like Stickers anyway!

The Stand was my favorite book by Stephen King and even if the movie was kinda cheesy..I still love it!

I agree though that Jamey Sheridan was awesome and still to this day, my son and I will look at a crow sitting outside somewhere and make some kind of comment about Randall Flagg watching us!

Some interesting tidbit of info that I didn't know and thanks to IMDB I found out....Bill Fagerbakke who played Tom Cullen (M-O-O-N that spells Tom Cullen) is the voice of Patrick on Spongebob Squarepants!!!
