    Sopranos: Season 4-Episode 1 (Sept. 15, 2002)

Here's a preview of the first episode of the new season from the HBO web site.

For All Debts Public and Private

The family that redefined family is back. The 4th season of THE SOPRANOS begins Sunday, September 15, with all-new episodes. The last time we checked in, Meadow was in mourning, A.J. was in a panic, Junior was in remission, Silvio and Christopher were in handcuffs, Paulie was in a secret meeting with Johnny Sack, the FBI was in a clothing store with Adriana...and Tony Soprano was in the middle of it all.

I'm SO happy Sopranos is back, and this episode should get the season off to a "bang".

There are so many open plot lines, I can't wait to see how the take care of them.

Wow, this was an AMAZING episode. Here's a quick run-down, in case you missed it or don't get HBO:

The economy is hitting the "family" hard, and everyone's having some cash-flow problems. Tony hits up the captains to work their crews harder.

Carmella is worried about what might happen to her and her family financially if something were to happen to Tony. Tony tells her that she'd be taken care of, but won't tell her where the money is. It turns out he's got piles of it hidden in every nook and cranny in the house, including the cracked corn duck-food out back (where she almost catches him hiding some).

Uncle Junior is beating the cancer, but getting sucked dry by all the lawyers being assigned to his RICO case in court. He meets Tony several times at the doctor's office to discuss business, only to later find out that there was an undercover fed at the office who's going to testify against him. He thinks it was the pretty nurse he flirted with, and tries to remember if he said anything incriminating to her.

Adrianna's new best friend is actually an undercover FBI agent. They're as close as white on rice, and A brings her to Tony's house, and kind of gives her the inside look into the family, by accident.

Christopher thinks that Tony's riding him pretty hard this week, and trying to hold him up to the ideal of his father (who was killed when he was a child). Turns out Tony's only trying to bond with him, and finally brings him to the retirement party of the police detective who Tony says killed his father for a rival mob. Christopher kills the cop, even though he flatly denies any involvement in the murder. Chris says "You know what? It doesn't matter anyways, he wants you dead." Chris is still doing heroin, though, which Tony doesn't know.

Paulie Walnuts is in jail, on a gun charge (he gets stopped by cops who find a gun under his seat, which coincidentally traces back to an unsolved murder from 8 years ago...Hmmm). He thinks Tony is gonna let him rot, so he calls Johnny Sack, the New York go-between for Tony's family and the family in NYC. Johnny is going to try to get him out, which will turn Paulie against Tony a little.

Oh yeah, Ralph Cifaretto (who's married) is screwing around and snorting coke with Tony's sister, Janet. Why, I just can't imagine. But that can't be good!

So, there's the wrap-up. You know as much as I do

Maybe it's because I was so excited about the show FINALLY starting, but I thought it was anticlimactic.

Well, the first show has to get everyone back in the groove, after 15 months. People may have forgotten some of the characters and stuff. I expected that. But, there was a murder, some new plotlines developing, and a pulling together of all the old stuff.

    Overall, I was very happy.

(oh, and Tony's sister is Janice, not Janet. But I'm too lazy to edit eh post!)

Super recap John! I think we've found ourselves a new recapper.

Oh, and Uncle Junior's story line makes it quite clear who the real villians are - lawyers.

I'm not liking this storyline because I'm afraid as soon as she gets caught she is toast...and she's a new mother

Here's what I think: Adrianna gets bumped off, and she just "goes away".

Did you all see the look that Tony gave to Adrianna's friend? I suspect that that could lead to a little "something."
