    Re: Rescue Me (Season 4)

How did I miss this show??? I watched the first episode of S4 and even though I don't know squat about any of the story lines I was hooked. Other than renting every season is there a site that I can get a recap? What's a spank bank? ? Or is that reserved for naughty monkies? I think the answer to that question might be in a PM to avoid a Mod spank :nono

My fave scene was the porno viewing oh and "Get out of my truck" Gotta remember that one when the BF is holding out. I think that it is the role reversal that lends to the shock value.

Since I had no emotional attachment to any of the cast at the time I was more upset about the in the fire.

Shout out to Beccs, Irishkate and Omar Good to see some familiar avies

I just saw last nights episode today. Don't want to write much about it in the land of DVR's and Tivos. It's safe to say there's a ho on the show. Post when you've watched!

Fueling the Fire - MSN TV News

article about the women of Rescue Me. The main point is that the characters of the women are flawed and complicated because that is the type of women who would be around these flawed and complicated guys. I read a different article about Rescue Me (but can't remember where I saw it, maybe it was linked here) that talked about how the whole point of this show is demonstrations of how men mourn. It started with NYC firefighters in the wake of 9/11, and in the early seasons Tommy talked to his dead cousin all the time, but ever since then these poor guys keep having to undergo huge losses (look at Tommy, losing a son and his brother and his marriage, etc.) and they do it to all of them - just like they were saying last night about how pretty much all of them had lost their mothers, Probie most recently, and the main "action" of the show is demonstrating how manly men deal with loss, through drugs and alcohol, through denial, through friendships, through having crappy relationships with women, etc.

Wow! I never thought of it that way, but that was right on! I rewatched it tonight with hubby so its still fresh in my mind. What a great way to describe the show. Its amazing to me that the show doesn't get more acting awards. Denis Leary, Tatum O'Neil to name a couple. Its a well written show. Thanks for that insight LG!

    Re: Rescue Me (Season 4)

    my pleasure, Beezers.

About last night's episoode, and sort of a theme for the whole season, is anyone else so stressed out about what is going to happen to that poor baby that it's hard to enjoy watching the show? Ok, I'm particularly sensitive because I have a baby boy and I would lose my mind if the person watching him was drinking on the couch all day having dreams about the baby drowning. Maybe she has PPD, but my God Tommy should do something then and get some help, as the daughter is feeding herself and resenting her brother because the parents can't get the acts together. As crazy as Sheila has been over the years, the baby would be better off with her right now. I know they need to keep giving these guys tragedies to deal with, but enough with putting the kids in mortal danger every minute of the show. Ack.

    Re: Rescue Me (Season 4)

LG - I feel the same way! Last week when they showed the scene with the infant carrier and the tractor trailer I about lost it.

My biggest problem is they have these issues and problems and then they go away and reappear. It's like we haven't heard about Keila in a year and she just reappears?? (plus I had to see the dreaded Susan Sarandon).

I find this season a little weird - Denis Leary is a bit egocentric.

That said, I still enjoy the hell out of the show. It's flawed, raw and has some of the best lines. Lou rocks.

Oh, and WTH? They have another woman cheating on him? It's just stupid. But I had to LOL when the cousin walked over Lou while he was in his towel and Lou was on the floor

Still enjoyable but the storylines are all over the place!

    Re: Rescue Me (Season 4)

I just watched last nights epi. I agree with the kids in danger thing because I have young ones too. I screamed over the truck scene and scared my husband.
I was glad to see in the previews Tommy was considering Sheila to take the baby. At least it would have a name and some attention. I was starting to think it was going to suffer from 'failure to thrive' syndrome. Plus, give the kid a name already...

I can't believe the guys didn't flip out over Sean lighting the house on fire. Did they believe him? I couldn't tell.

May fave part of the night was when Lou's girlfriend told him the batteries better magically reappear or she was going to show him a totally new side of bitch he hasn't seen before (paraphrasing of course). She went through 3 different personalities in 5 minutes!

    Re: Rescue Me (Season 4)

I'm watching but I'm not liking a lot of the things that are going on. It feels like a totally different "Rescue Me" than what I'm used to. And that all started with the killing off of the funny Chief. I am also not liking the new PROBIE. I have to agree with Tommy on that there is a reason that probies are put thru the ringer, so to speak; so that the other guys know that they can trust him in a fire.

    Re: Rescue Me (Season 4)

I have a feeling that "Tommy" is going to want to give the son to the Susan Sarandon character not "Sheila". They are previewing it like "Sheila" is the one but this is going to be a twist. I'm so sure of this that I'm trying to think of how the women in his life are going to react. Will it be a long drawn out process where everyone blames him for being "Tommy" or a short story line were someone stops him.

One of the reasons I watch this show is the subtle touches that hit often as hard as the over the top things(i.e. the creepiness of the sister standing over the baby vs. Janet's disconnect with her son)
