Ummmmmmm.LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Tom Selleck, who recently signed on to an NBC comedy pilot, has also taken a guest role in the network's cops-and-firefighters drama "Third Watch."
He'll play a reporter in a four-episode arc that will culminate in the show's season finale in May. Selleck's character starts a relationship with paramedic Kim (Kim Raver) while hiding the fact that he works as a confidential informant for the police.
Selleck hasn't appeared on a drama series since "Magnum, P.I." the show that made him famous, went off the air in 1988. He's instead concentrated on feature films and TV movies and also had a recurring role on "Friends" as Monica's (Courteney Cox) much older boyfriend.
In recent years he's starred in several westerns, most recently TNT's "Monte Walsh." The movie drew a big audience for the cable network, beating several network shows on the night it premiered.
Selleck's pilot, "Touch 'Em All McCall," is about a retired major league baseball player who returns to his hometown to manage a minor-league team.
