    Re: Days Of Our Lives

Yep, a very long time watcher of DOOL but even then I sometimes have to really think to figure out everyone's connection to each other!
Seems like the Bradys are becoming bigger than the Hortons. The writers sure do play with our emotions with each character. One minute, I think someone is truly evil and then they show me a different side and I'm confused. Just look at Stefano!! Didn't he use to have people killed??? But now we see him as this family man, with a deep dark past, capable of all kinds of things but at times, they play down how really evil he can be.

Altho I was truly surprised that Sami could shoot EJ. Wasn't expecting that at all! Am loving the Victor/Maggie relationship. It's good to see older people having love relationships. Us, old people, have those feelings too!!
And they're both attractive and look great together.

I miss Tony too. It's always possible with soap operas that he may come back from the "dead."

Absolutely! I just read recently in one of the soap opera magazines (*rolls eyes!!!* I know, I know. . . ) that Maggie and Victor are now the new super couple. Yay!!!!

    Re: Days Of Our Lives

I'm enjoying Vivienne locked up in that casket. She so deserves it!!
But I think it's time to end her run on the soap. She's tried just about everything to make many miserable and I just don't see any more plot lines for her.

I really like Rafe but I'll never understand why he's so in love with crazy, immature, mixed up Sammy. She has very few redeemable qualities and now we can add "attempted murderess."
I did read that Arrianna is going to be let go from the cast and they are replacing Gabriella with a new actress.
Given how much air time Will has gotten in the last few months, I"m so glad they have the present one rather than the vapid creature that used to play Will.

Good, lord, could DOOL be any more boring?!!! Dragging out storylines excessively. Viv still looking as cool as a cucumber in the coffin. Kayla came all the way from Africa just to sort out a mystery about Daniell and Chole??
I suppose the money offerred was good but as much as I like seeing old cast members, give them a reason for being there.

I know, shades of soaps in the olden days! Vivian fresh as a daisy (in full "hair and makeup") in the coffin for weeks on end. . . Puleeeeze! (Not to mention the unmentionables, like, doesn't the woman have to pee/poop? Or is she outfitted with special tubing, like the astronauts????)

By the way, I like seeing the old cast members too, of course, but it's interesting that my reaction to Kayla, for example, whom I loved when she was 'Sweet Kayla' is so much more negative now that she's turning into 'Angry/Self-righteous Kayla.' Same thing with Bo --- I love him when he's in love with Hope and don't find him particularly interesting or appealing when he isn't.

The writers are destroying the characters - Rafe, Will, Kayla, Caroline - just to name a few. Kayla was never a busy body and Caroline was always a good person - never would've done what she did - ever. They're trying to make her senile or something.

yeah, what's up with the Caroline character??!! Switching the paternity results is out of character but it is a soap opera so maybe I could buy that. But she just seems so cranky too. Like when she got all uppity with Maggie about Victor....you'd think by now she wouldn't be jealous anymore. And then she was really mean to Kayla about this whole paternity thing.
I'm just not finding it to be very interesting lately. Guess soaps always go thru some lulls. We need a good murder msytery. Loved when the Salem strangler was lurking around.
And when did nurse Kayla become a doctor??
you gotta love soaps for changing people's professions all the time, like Hope being a police officer, Bo, who was once a hellion, now Police Commisioner.
Doesn't Hope look like Skeletor while in prison??

I like the fact that Caroline is a bit edgier lately, rather than just being the sweet little old lady in the background. After all, us older folks have personalities, and issues, and storylines too! (LOVE the Maggie + Victor storyline!!!) And I have to give Caroline some credit for not wanting it revealed who Chloe + Daniel's baby's father is, because of the devastation that occurred when she revealed that she had cheated on her own husband with Victor, and that as a result of their affair, Victor was Bo's father and not her husband Sean. That was a HUGE scandal back in the day! I aagree though, that Caroline has gone too far on the cranky meter, and it really is out of character for her to actually go so far as to change a paternity test.

PS Kayla apparently went to medical school after she and Steve left the program years ago, and didn't come back until just recently. If you guys remember, she came back having become a doctor, and Steve had let his life go to the dogs and maybe even had some amnesia, or something like that.

Nope, I don't remember that about med school but then there were years where I didn't watch at all. I always come back to it though since it's the only one I ever watched and from the very begining....'65 or '66?? or sometime around then.
It just seems so odd not to have Marlena on at all. She was so beautiful and never seemed to age but didn't have that "plastic" look.
Thought she'd be on there forever since she aged so well and was so popular. Maggie still looks wonderful too but I've often wondered why they kept her on for so long since old people have a way of disappearing unless they're villians like Victor, Stefano or Viv but I'm glad she's there.

Deidre Hall (Marlena) was just on the Wendy Williams Show a few weeks ago. She still looks FABULOUS and is as sweet and charming as ever.

And yes, Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) looks wonderful too. She's so pretty.

Like you, dragonlady, I've been watching (off and on) since 1966 --- which I think was Days' 2nd year, and long before either Marlena or Maggie came to town. Do you remember there were 3 huge storylines then: Susan Martin slept with Julie's boyfriend and got pregnant, Bill and Mickey Horton were both in love with Laura, and Marie Horton fell madly in love with a handsome stranger who turned out to be her long lost oldest brother Tommy!
