now whether she wants to admit to it and face it or ignore it
are two different things
Last night, I ended up going to bed before this show was even over. I've convinced myself that I can get away with watching 10 minutes each week, and know what is going on.
Kitty has a bad relationship with her mother. I get it.
The gay brother feels put upon, and is the only member of the family who seems to feel any obligation to the family. I get it.
The Iraq veteran brother has a drug probelm. I get it.
Rachel Griffith's character is stressed out. I get it.
The foreshadowing is WAY too obvious. (Kitty: My niece is drinking a lot of water, and peeing a lot. I'm worried" ... hmm, could she be diabetic???) The plots are advancing way to slow. I'm not sure why I'm still tuning in for 10 minutes. I think it's some sort of loyalty I feel to Ken Olin because I'm still mad that thirtysomething has never been released on DVD. But I just can't justify staying up until 11 every Sunday for this.
See, I love Sally Field. Last night was kind of cute. I still haven't learned all their names. The druggie brother took a job as a bellman at a hotel where not only did he inadvertantly admit to his boss (on his first day) that he was stoned (he didn't know that she was his boss) but turns out they went to high school together. Sara's husband (is it John?) asked Kitty if Sara's keeping anything from him. Kitty covered and told him that Sara always retreats into her work just like dad. She babysat Paige and Cooper (typical 3 year old where all he wants is sugar) and grew concerned about how much water she was drinking and how often she was going to the bathroom. But when she tried to tell Sara her concerns, Sara took as an accusation that she doesn't know how to take care of her own child and yelled at her for what she told John (?). Later, druggie brother was escorting what appeared to be a couple to the elevator and overheard them arguing (was that Ming Na?). Male tells him to do his job and mind his business. (Kind of hard to mind your business when the couple is screaming at each other right next to you) He later goes to his locker and pops more pills (Do we know exactly what these pills are?). That evening, Sara is concerned when John says that Paige went to lay down when she got home from school at 3 and here it is 6:30 and she's still not awake. They rush her to the hospital and call the family. Druggie's boss finds him half out of it in the hallway and tells him to go home when he's well enough to drive but that she won't fire him because she remembers how he was in high school and wants to give that guy another chance. It's revealed that yes indeed Paige has diabetes. They're keeping her for a few nights to get her used to all the needles and such. The whole family is waiting in the waiting room and druggie comes in. Another brother (the one that got him the job) gets on his case for being high again and tells him that from this point forward, he's done. He no longer cares what druggie does with his life. Kitty was upset that Nora put up a family portrait that didn't include Kitty. It's revealed (unless we already knew) from Uncle Saul that Daddy made some very bad business decisions. Gay brother took Nora to the husband wife golf thing where daddy was going to be honored. Nora suddenly felt like she couldn't go through with the toast and begged gay brother to take her home. They went to see a movie and gay brother ran into his "friend" Scottie (?). Gay brother was supposed to have a date with Scottie that night but of course, he's the only one who can cheer mom up so he canceled. When they ran into each other, Scottie was holding hands with some other guy. At the end, Nora decided that they would take a new family portrait with Kitty. Paige is fine and the whole family poses for a great photo. Can someone please give me the characters names so I can learn them?
:) I see where you're going with that, as the storylines have been predictable. But it is very, very well done. I love the writing, directing, and acting. All are top notch.Quote:

I hope it sticks around, but I always end up loving shows that disappear into oblivion!
Can someone please list the character names so I can learn them?

I think that's all of them. So Far, I'm really liking this show. I like the family interaction, and Calista Flockhart is not nearly as annoying as I thought she would be.
Thank you very much. I, too, really like it. I agree that Calista isn't as annoying as I thought she would be.Quote:

Haha...I'm just good with names. Even for shows I don't watch all that frequently, I'll remember character names and the actors/actresses that play them. It's an odd gift. :laughQuote:
