Rachael Ray's Talk Show

After hearing a lot of hype about this show was bankrolled by Oprah, today I finally saw a commercial for its premiere (in September).

Now, I personally happen to love Rachael Ray. I love her crazed, goofy perkiness, but I also have come to realize the things I find endearing in her annoy the bejeebus out of other people. I remember being surprised by the amount of enmity towards her in the old Food Network threads.

Are any other people looking forward to this show? Am I the only one? Like I said, I love Rachael Ray, but I do understand some people's criticism of her...I'm starting to wonder if she's best in small doses and if I'm at risk to experience RR backlash.

Is she branching out from food, but still featuring some on her new show? Is the format an Oprah clone, or will it be unique for daytime? What are her chances for success? Do people think this will fail, and she should just sick to Food Network?

I have never watched Rachel's show on the food network. In fact, I had never heard of her til I saw her on Oprah. Then I tried her easy 30 minute Thanksgiving dinner last year (because my husband was deployed and I did not want to make a big meal). Anyway, it was soooooooooooooo good! So then I got one of her cookbooks and I have been a fan ever since. I think I will check her show out when it starts.

I think she's adorable. She's a bit much sometimes in that she can be overly enthusiastic, but overall, I find her endearing and likeable. AND, I love her recipes! I make a lot of her pasta dishes and yes, even I can make most of them in 30 minutes and under. Not sure that I feel the need to see a talk show from her, but I'll check it out if it's on at a time when I'm home.

I do watch her on the Food Network though.

I like her, too. She can get annoying, but she is fun. I am looking forward to the talk show.

I like her, too. I'd be happy to have her for a neighbor - ooohh the "welcome to the neighborhood" casserole she'd drop off!
Her perkiness doesn't usually bother me except for this one ep. of Tasty Travels when she was with her husband in NYC -I kept expecting to hear her say to him, "No, you're a schmoopy".
I look forward to what will be a pleasant, chatty, angst-free show but, as with most daytime t.v., I doubt I'll be setting aside time to watch every day.

Okay, so I'm not the only one then! I have mentioned this to some people and the response has not always been so enthusiastic.

But I like Rachael Ray, she just seems like someone who is easy to relate to, like an old friend. I guess that's the sort of quality that would make her an appealing host for daytime.

I agree with cricketeen, I'd like some of welcome casserole too!

Wow, you must be far better in the kitchen than I am. It takes me like 90 minutes to do her 30 minute meals (but I'm kind of kitchen ignorant and only in the past couple of years have I learned to cook--and enjoy cooking!).

It's nice to see other people like her recipes though. Since I am a novice cook, she's one of the few TV chefs whose recipes I can actually recreate with great success at home. They always get rave reviews. Some of the other people's recipes are just far too baroque for me, or have instructions with terms I don't understand. The rest of what I watch on the Food Network is strictly food porn.

I do wonder how she'll compare with Megan Mullaly, who also gets her own daytime show soon. I liked her on "Will & Grace" and wish her success. Only how many frackin' daytime talk shows are there out there? And how many does the world really need?

Whoa, I didn't know Rachael Ray was getting her own talk show until I read it here! Shows how out of the loop I am. I love Rachael so I'll definitely give it a try. Lately, I've been watching $40 a Day alot. I still don't think I could stay within that budget though.

Snowy
, it takes me longer than 30 minutes to prepare her meals too. ...not quite 90 minutes though.

All I can say is, thank god she's replacing Dr. Phil locally. Anything is better than that self appointed answer to the worlds problems.

Rachael's got Oprah's stamp of approval so I'm guessing her show is going to do quite well--or get a longer shot before being canceled at least. I don't think Megan's show's going to last for very long--it'll probably go the way of shows by the likes of other celebs, like Carnie Wilson, Queen Latifah etc.

And SnowflakeGirl, I'm a horrible cook! I didn't really start to cook until I got married a few years ago--and then Rachael's recipes came in handy 'cause most of them are so simple. It used to take me about 45 minutes to prepare her meals, but now, seriously, I can do them in 30 minutes or less. I've also learned to improvise a lot where I follow her recipes the first few times and then add things later that I like. So it just takes a few times to get up to her speed (pun intended!). I love just about all of her pasta dishes! Yummo, as she would say!

I wonder if she'll have a short cooking segment on her talk show? Also, has anyone read her magazine? Is it any good?

As I was saying, before my drunken self hit the back button, have any of you read her magazine? It's really full of Rachelisms and I liked it. She is endearingly annoying. She's such a geeky goofball, but she clearly loves her food and cooking.
