    Re: As The World Turns

Critical posted upthread that the final show will be on September 17.
I am just so sad that it is coming to an end...I grew up watching, first in black and white tv, with my mom, aunts and grandmom. For the longest time, I thought, by overhearing their conversations that Lisa, Kim, Bob, were 'real' and friends of theirs. It was given that during lunch, the TV was turned to As the World Turns.
I have enjoyed seeing some of the old characters return for a final goodbye.

    Re: As The World Turns

I have been watching like the first 10 minutes or so every day lately, before I have to go back to work after lunch. I will probably take the afternoon off next Friday just to see the final show. I find this all rather sad.

I grew up like you did. My grandmother and great grandmother used to love this show and I grew up loving it too.

How have they handled the death of the actor who played Nancy Hughes? She passed away a few months ago.

I must record the show and watch the final days. It's so sad.

Keep hoping there will be some kind of announcement tomorrow that this whole cancellation thing is a joke. It certainly is a mistake.

I didn't know this! how sad. I used watch the CBS soaps when I was sick when I was a kid. This one easily my favorite. Ah well, I will watch tomorrow to say farewell.

So sad this is going. Haven't been a regular viewer in years but sad to see it go just the same. Reminds me of when my favourite soap of all time, Another World, went off the air. Still haven't gotten over it.

I fear one of these days all soaps will be gone off the air.

They are on the first commercial break and I have already shed a couple of tears. I feel so silly.

Didn't see the finale...how did it end? Did the end do the show justice?

The finale had fast forwarded ahead 1 month.

Bob Hughes kind of narrated in the background during most of it. He was packing up his office for retirement

There was closure for everyone. Ali and Casey moved out of town and are going to get married. Barbara made peace with Emily and Paul. She and Henry are married. Lucinda and John are together and Lucinda and Lily made peace. Chris proposed to Katie.

I was hoping that they would show some of the scenes from the past, but they didn't. I have always heard that the very first words spoken on ATWT was Nancy saying "Good morning" . The very last words spoken on the show were Bob saying "good night" as he turned off the light to his office and shut the door. I thought that was fitting
