    Re: One Life To Live

A review of the show which shall not be named from the Chicago Sun Times. I especially like the hat comment. BTW, the gave it 1 1/2 stars.

Don’t let the name fool you: There’s nothing revolutionary about “The Revolution.”

ABC’s new daytime talker, filling the time slot of the canceled “One Live to Live,” promises its team of lifestyle experts will help both viewers and its televised “heroes” of the week transform their bodies, minds, style, health and environment.

What it actually delivers — besides one long Macy’s commercial — is a bunch of platitudes, lame tips (“embrace color”), television’s millionth makeover and advice from the no-duh handbook.

On Monday’s debut, style guru Tim Gunn (“Project Runway”) gave one woman a “Timtervention” by swapping her mom jeans for a miniskirt. He then shared one of the fashion world’s biggest secrets: High heels make legs look longer. Thanks, Officer Obvious. Maybe on Tuesday we’ll learn that hats are worn on the head.

The show also focuses on one or two women — sorry, “heroes” — as their lives are changed during a five-month transformation that gets condensed to five days. Each week, the players will change. But you can bet the plot will stay the same, starting with tears and ending in a smaller dress size.

*snort* I love Tim Gunn, but I still won't watch this show.

I'm sure it will be deemed a success by ABC because a) they would never admit either show was a flop and b) it's so much cheaper to produce that even horrid ratings aren't a problem.

I'll never watch it either. Neither one of their new Daytime shows. But not because they replaced the soaps. I won't watch them because they don't interest me in the least & because I find them an insult to Daytime viewers. You're-Not-Good-Enough shows do nothing but make people feel exactly that.

I agree. Even if they weren't replacing my shows, I wouldn't watch them. Yesterday afternoon during the usual OL time, I watched CSI.

I'm finding I have at least one extra hour every day to read or watch something else. The ratings for day 2 of the show were even lower than day 1. The problem is that it's so much cheaper to produce than OLTL. I was reading an article earlier that said OLTL cost about $200,000 per episode to produce.

This is a pretty good article in the Washington Post:
‘One Life to Live’: This time, it’s fatal, as soap opera comes to end - The Washington Post

I would love to see a cable network pick up OLTL for a primetime slot, even a weekly one. I thought Night Shift was pretty good on SoapNet. It would have to be another network since it looks like SoapNet is closing up shop pretty soon (I think I read something that said it's done in March)...Yep, it's March 23rd: Disney Junior to Replace SoapNet in March - Today's News: Our Take | TVGuide.com

I've been enjoying late night AMC episodes on SoapNet. I guess that's ending too

Yes, they are killing off our soaps.

Wow! Quite the impressive list. I only wish it was on TV.
I've gotten quite fond of & wrapped up in GH, but I'd be gone in a second if I could have my OLTL back on TV.

Will I be pummeled by rotten tomatoes if I admit I'm really happy OLTL is back....but I want Todd and Starr to stay on GH? I'm really hoping PP works out a deal with ABC so they can do both shows for awhile, just to wrap up OLTL story lines, then head back to GH full time. The stuff I've been reading lately has me kinda worried. As for John? Meh. I like him ok, but he won't make or break either show for me.
