    Re: All My Children

I'm a total emotional wreck right now. I cried through that whole hour.

I was so happy to see Gillian Spencer and Taylor Miller, but I would have loved it if Peter Bergman come back for the day too. I know he's on Y&R and networks usually don't allow that, but it would have been fun to see Cliff and Nina together again. They were always one of my favorite couples.

James Mitchell must have known he didn't have much time left when he was there to shoot the anniversary episode a few months ago. An article I read said that, after James filmed his lines, he asked them to keep the camera rolling and that's where that footage we saw today came from.

One thing's for sure, without James Mitchell and David Canary, AMC is going to be very different. It's definitely the end of an era now that all the of the greats - Phoebe, Myrtle, Palmer and Adam - are finally gone.

And Dr. Joe, too. He was on the show from the beginning.

I haven't watched AMC very often in the last several years, but I do watch the tribute episodes to these fine actors. Now the show has moved from NYC to California, I have less reason to watch than ever, since I used to work on the AMC set in NYC years and years ago.

James Mitchell will be so missed. I thought it was a lovely tribute to him. I will now have to bring out my DVD of "Oklahoma" just to watch him dance again. His roots were in dance and he loved it all his life.

I started watch AMC when Erica was still on husband number one. I used to love Nina & Cliiff, Palmore ,Phoebe and all of the oldtimers. I will miss PC & Adam Chandler on this show.

It is going to the end of an era--they even film the show in another state now! And I can't see JR and Petey stepping into their father's shoes.

I just finished watching today's show after work. I was sobbing so hard my little doggies were kissing me. My 83 year old dad passed very unexpectedly earlier this month. I sure that was a large part of all the crying.

It was a beautiful tribute and I just can't delete it from my dvr yet.

For some reason, Joe isn't in the same category for me. He just wasn't a big mover and shaker or troublemaker like the other four. I'd include Langley in that list and Mona too, as well as Charles and maybe even Kate, who I still miss.

I still liked them, but Joe and Ruth were more supporting characters by the time I started watching, around the time Tad came to town. Was that the late 70's? I remember Donna and Chuck and Brooke and Mark and Phoebe stealing Charles from Mona....or was it the other way around (I think it was!) Ah, the good old days.....

The best thing about the tribute show was that we didn't have to suffer through more Ryan/Greenlee drama. Why couldn't she have just died when she flew off that cliff on the motorcycle?

Unless tptb really step things up, I don't know how they're going to recover from losing David Canary. JR is not Adam and Jacob Young is no David Canary. Okay, I'm making myself sad now. They need to give Michael Knight a killer storyline NOW....and preferably not one with faux Liza.

On another note, I heard that
Kate Collins will be coming back as Janet for a while - I don't remember how long she'll be in town and I'm not sure if this will be insane Janet or calm, motherly Janet. Either way, I'll be happy to see her.

Why do I get the feeling that

Janet is Amanda's psycho email fan?

    Your feeling is correct.

And Dr. Joe had a lot more important story lines when the show started. He, like Erica, was an original character. Palmer and Adam weren't even on the show then. Now Erica is the only remaining character from day one of the show.

I actually like the Annie/JR pairing... while I feel so much for Marissa, I just never liked her with JR...it was always a bit weird to me that JR would date his deceased wife's sister... then again, his fathers ex wife isn't that much better...lol but regardless...i see alot of possibilities with JR and Annie, Marissa and JR was sweet, but safe...

and im disappointed Greenlee and Ryan still haven't mended fences...I really like those two together...i hope they dont plan to keep Greenlee with David and have Ryan and Madison pair up...
