| Little Britain "Britain, Britain, Britain, land of technological achievement. We've had running water for over 10 years, an underground tunnel that links us to Peru, and we invented the cat," ![]() ![]() That's just one example of how this wickedly funny half hour comedy begins each week. Has ANY ONE ELSE seen this show??? Our roommie, Michele, is a nanny for a British couple and they loaned her the first season DVD. Sally, Michele and I watched it 5 times the first weekend that we borrowed it....it was the most mad-cap, crazy comedy that I've ever seen! We've since learned that the BBC on digital cable is showing the first series late at night. From the BBC website, we've learned that they have a combination DVD that has both Season 1 and 2 on it. This show has so permeated our lives that we've each adopted a character from the shows and that's our silly persona around the apartment. It's also nice having "inside jokes" that the three of us can laugh about and no one else understands us....or thinks we're complete loons! Here's the description of the show: ""Britain, Britain, Britain, land of technological achievement. We've had running water for over 10 years, an underground tunnel that links us to Peru, and we invented the cat," narrates Tom Baker gleefully at the beginning of Little Britain, introducing the first hit show for fledgling digital channel BBC3 and the best new British comedy since The League of Gentlemen. In fact, creators and stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams acknowledge a large debt to the League, not only in the gallery of grotesques all performed by the duo, but also in the way in which the familiar sketch-show format is expanded by clever use of locale: not Royston Vasey here, but "Britain" itself in all its perverse splendor: from Darkly Noon, where chavette Vicky Pollard seems all too frighteningly real ("Yeah, but no, but yeah. Shut up!"), to the Welsh village with only one gay, to the council estate where buck-toothed Lou looks after apparently wheelchair-bound Andy ("Yeah, I know"), to Kelsey Grammar School where pupils are baffled and confused by their fusty teacher, and many more besides. It's unashamedly puerile stuff and, as with The Fast Show before it, many sketches rely on a single incident or catchphrase repeated over and over in only slightly different contexts. But it works brilliantly, thanks to the characterizations of Lucas and Walliams, their sharp eye for the eccentricities of modern life, and of course that surreal voiceover from Tom Baker. Another triumph for Auntie Beeb." http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130

| Re: Little Britain Vicki Pollard is SO funny! And I love Bubbles (??) I was in shock the first time I saw that naked fat suit. Sebasitan and Mr. Prime Minister is just odd most times. And the old church lady that doesn't realize she's a lesiban is hysterical! I love this show and I watch it all the time

I am so glad you started a thread for this. I recommend the series to anyone with a twisted sense of humour. You can catch it at various times during the week on Showcase in Ontario.
