Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

I loved it when the guy passed out and went headfirst into the bar!!! I replayed that at least 5 times!!! That made the whole show worth it, for me!!

Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

Shay, that was something, wasn't it? I was surprised he didn't end up with a black eye or a big ol' knot on his head.

I was feeling like you, Gabriel, until I actually watched it. It seems this last batch of guys were particularly creepy, and I hope that not only the adults will think twice in the future before meeting a teen for sex (wondering if it's a sting), but that the teens will realize what a bunch of losers these men are. So many of them talked about not having jobs, not owning a car, and how they can't meet women of age (because you're LOSERS, fellas). Not too many adult women will put up with a guy who has nothing going for him - and I'm not referring to material things, but a zest for life, and outside interests besides video games and sex with teens.

Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

The most recent one I watched that made me laugh is when the 27 year old black guy asked Chris Hansen could he give him a ride home-lol And then when Chris Hansen said-"Sir I'm in no position to give you a ride home" the guy then says-"can you give me money for a cab? I was like-HUH??

The young actors that play the part of a minor must have nerves and stomachs of steel. I would immediatly gag the first time I layed eyes on one of the disgusting looking pervs....and not be able to say my lines

Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

I'm sure they had exactly that reaction when they first started. I'm guessing that eventually, just like any other job, it's just another day. Looked like there was a little blip on the "nerve radar" when the persistent guy started following the one girl closely when she left the room! Nothing like a little shot of adrenaline, every now and then! I truly admire what they are doing.

Just read the story about the 16-17 year old girl that suicided (her family went to church, and she hung herself) after hooking up with an online sexual predator that came from California to Texas to have sex with her. Reinforced, in my mind, why we still need to have operations/shows like this out there.

Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

Well, he would have lost his job but was it really necessary to go to his house since he did not show up at the set up house. That was not wise on the producers part they just wanted good TV. Come on they had enough footage with guys that actually showed up.

Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

Bearcata - the man was a sexual predator who could have been convicted without showing up at the sting house. That is why the authorities went to him. He was deleting incriminating files from his computer before he killed himself. Contrary to what some may believe, in many instances it's still a crime, even if they don't show up to meet the victim.

There's more info about the guy on the website for Perverted Justice:

Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

I didn't feel sorry for him. I'd rather it be a pervert who suicided than an innocent, inexperienced victim. I do feel sorry for his family, though. He sure wasn't thinking about them.

Re: Dateline - "To Catch A Predator"

Wow. I just read that article and the quotes from the sister come off as very delusional. Dateline didn't force him to engage in criminal activity. Dateline didn't make him turn on his computer, find a chat room and start soliciting sex with a minor. Dateline didn't set up the meeting between him and the minor. Under Texas law just the chat alone is prosecutable which is why the police were able to show up at his house to arrest him. Dateline filming it had no influence on the outcome, whether they were there or not the police would have been. And to say there was reasonable assumption that suicide was possible is ridiculous!

All this woman is doing is ensuring more people know her brother was a pedophile.
