Re: Ghost Whisperer

Just a thought here... Could this all be a "dream" episode? Mel was asleep when Jim appeared to her.

We can hope! But if so it seems to be one that goes on for a while from the previews.... But hey, look at Dallas!

All that stuff about love being eternal and it being about the journey not the event in the interview doesn't bode well for Jim....

Re: Ghost Whisperer

Crazy thought, but maybe we should see where they take this. Sounds like from the interview they're going to do something really romantic, and my bet is Jim will stick around awhile...as a ghost. I don't get the feeling that just because he died they're taking him off the canvass. Obviously I could be totally wrong, but aren't there tons of romance novels out there nowadays where the hero is a ghost, or from another time, or has some other seemingly impossible obstacle? Love transcends all, yada yada yada. Who knows, maybe as a ghost, we'll actually get more of Jim and Melinda's story. I agree, the new guy is awful, but I don't think they'll try to stick him and Melinda together (God at least I hope not!!!). Of course, if Jay's show fails and he decides to come back....

Oh man I just watched it finally and I was crying so hard.
I actually had to go in the other room for a moment and wash my face because I was going to make myself ill

Re: Ghost Whisperer

Based on the interview, it does sound like Jim is dead for good, but will be sticking around for a while as a ghost. I don't like it. Jim needs to be alive. Jim was the one constant, stable presence in Melinda's life. He was her "safe" place. Now what? I hate when the writers mess up shows like this because they feel the need to shake things up. Although I did read that the actor who plays Jim wanted more to do on the show, and now he will be on more, but at what cost? Couldn't they just write him more into the storylines as a "live" person? Why kill him? It's just very disappointing. With Melinda being the only original character left on this show, I'm betting it will go downhill from here.

Re: Ghost Whisperer

I don't understand their need to make Melinda miserable. She lost her best friend and now her husband..... I don't think it will stick around much past this season.

The detective did shoot Jim...which is crazy because no detective would ever shoot at something like that...there was no way to tell who had the shotgun, all he could see from the outside was just the shadows. Stupid writing. But I did read that next week's show will address this...

[[Supposedly the detective who shot Jim was worried about his daughter and her illness, so he was "off his game" - and then I think his daughter dies and visits Melinda as a ghost...the daughter feels like it was her fault that her dad shot Jim because he was so pre-occupied with her. So, it sounds like they are at least going to address the issue of the stupid detective taking a stupid shot at a couple of shadows from the outside. ]]

Re: Ghost Whisperer

I am just sick that they have killed Jim off, I think they have ruined the show. I'm going to stick it out, but they better do something good. I just wonder why they can't let at least one couple stay together on TV and show people what it's like for people to actually stay together and make it through hard times. Why do they always have to divorce them, or keep them apart, or in this case kill them off. Anywho enough of that, I'm just not happy about this, and I agree with spirit007, she really needed him, and I think the show did too.

Re: Ghost Whisperer

Can anyone say "Ghost Story?" Only this time it is the wife who can see and talk to ghosts not Whoopie Goldberg. Perhaps the male producers think their female audience will find this twist to be more romantic than love between flesh and blood people. Oh, well. I could see this coming with the previews, so I wasn't surprised - just disappointed.

And who is the Trio of "goddesses" who visited to tell Melinda she was getting too involved with the dead (writer foreshadow) and that death would rub off on those she loved? Will they act as her muses or oracles in future episodes?

Melinda won't be "hooking up" or becoming romantically involved with anyone this season. The ghost of Jim is still in her presense and even after he has departed, her grief won't allow her to feel anytime soon. So - NOTE to the male writers - don't relieve her grief before the end of the season.
