I have not watched this in many years, but would like to know, has Ted met his wife?

There's no place like home!
no - he will meet his wife at Robin & Barney's wedding.

Is this the last season for the show? I pray it is. I've missed many episodes this year because I just couldn't stand how they're dragging this out ... and the plot lines all seemed repetitive and uninteresting when no progress is made towards Ted meeting his wife.
I've learned to take the show per episode, rather than waiting to see who the mother is - otherwise I would've given up on it years ago. I find it chock full of great tv (most of the time) and at the same time we keep getting more hints about the mother and we've seen their first baby.
for me this show has always been all about my Barney love (although I dont' like that they're having him marry Robin) and I loved the final play in his playbook ---- who knew the writers have been scamming us all season.
This was supposed to be the final season since Jason Segal said he wouldn't sign after season 8, but I bet his movie career didn't take off quite the way he thought it would....??? No word yet on a season 9.
And Marvin WaitForIt Ericson has to be cutest baby in tv history!!

I've been on the fence with Robin for awhile, then all of her screaming at Patrice finally pushed me firmly to the side of total dislike. I'd have rather seen Barney with sweet Patrice any day. Did really love this week's Seth Green part!!

That's the same way that I had to look at it. My husband on the other hand won't watch it because he can't get over the fact that meeting the mother has taken so long. I enjoy the show as is, and to me, finding out who the mother really is would probably mean the end or a lame spinoff.
Total agreement on just enjoying it one episode at a time...I really like these people.
I think I"m in love w/Ted.
I enjoy the show as it is also and, for the most part, I see why the story had to start where it did and how all of it is relevant to the bigger picture. I also loved this most recent episode. I did not see Barney proposing to Robin coming - though when Robin mentioned that the roof of the WWN building was her favorite I though "wouldn't that be neat if Barney was doing all this for Robin."
Looks like we'll get a 9th season: ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Renewed Season 9, Jason Segel Almost Holdout - TVLine As predicted, Segal was the hold out.
Pretty much everyone I know IRL gave up on the show years back since the mother wasn't revealed. Like posters upthread, I watch it for the characters and frankly wouldn't be disappointed if we never met the mother. Some episodes are off, but some are so well done (like the count down that ended in Marshall's dad's death or the one when Barney confronted his father) I always give it a pass, like how inorganic the Robin/Barney stuff is lately. Plus, the more shows where Joe Manganiello can be shirtless, the better.![]()
I have never liked this show but my husband loves it, and was kind enough to call me to the TV when he saw who the guest star was.Normally you can't pay me to watch an episode but Manganiello is damn funny as well as being the most phenomenal-looking man I've ever seen.
