So clearly this is how much of a SN dork I am - I had a dream last night were I was at my kids' school and sitting down at a table with a man and a woman. They ask me if I've given any thought to where my older daughter was going to go to jr high. So I start telling them about some schools I'm considering because of various programs when I notice the man looking concerned. When I asked him why, he said he was hoping we would stick with that school because he wanted my daughter to join their Men of Letters Club!!!! LOL!! There is something wrong with me! I mean, if I'm going to have a SN dream, it better be having Dean in it!

    Season 12 Episode 4 - "American Nightmare" - November 3, 2016

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural_(season_12)

In Iowa, a woman named Olivia walks into a church bleeding and being whipped by something unseen, she dies. The Winchesters talk to her coworker Beth at Child Protective Services, a Wiccan who is promoted with Olivia dead. Dean thinks it's obvious Beth killed her with a spell and is moody with Mary gone. A local grocery stock boy then dies the same way. The two victims are connected to a deeply religious husband, wife and son who live off grid while their daughter Magda died of pneumonia. Sam believes Magda's ghost is doing this while Dean goes to kill Beth. Sam discovers Magda is still alive in the basement and is considered the devil by her family, forced by her mother to whip herself. Sam is captured as Dean realizes Beth is innocent. Sam learns Magda has psychic abilities and she had reached out to the two victims trying to get their help, not intending to kill them. With their secret exposed, her mother intends for them to poison themselves and die as a family, killing her husband. Magda tries to stop her and her mother accidentally kills her brother. Sam talks her out of murdering her mother who is arrested. Magda is sent to live with an aunt in California with Sam promising to be there for her if she needs help, while Dean accepts Mary needing space. However, at a rest stop, Magda is killed by Mr. Ketch of The Men of Letters to clean up the Winchester's mess.
I don't necessarily agree that every non human or human with powers needs to be killed, every non human or human with powers is not a monster, it seems the Men of Letters have a very, very narrow margin on who is a monster and who is not.

Is the title "American Nightmare" a play on "American Gothic"???

    Season 12 Episode 5 - "The One You've Been Waiting For" - November 10, 2016

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural_(season_12)

In Columbus, Ohio, an elderly woman attempts to buy an antique pocket watch only to be murdered along with the owner of the antique store by the Thule Society, an organization of Nazi necromancers. They later begin chasing a young woman named Ellie Grant. The murders draw the attention of the Winchesters who learn from a young Thule member named Christoph that the watch holds the soul of Adolf Hitler and the Thule intend to use Ellie to resurrect Hitler. The Thule succeed in abducting Ellie and resurrecting Hitler in the body of the Thule leader, but Christoph aids the Winchesters in finding the Thule. Ellie and the Winchesters kill the Thule High Command and Dean kills Hitler. After burning the bodies of the Thule, Ellie finally stops running from everything while Christoph is forced on the run from what's left of the Thule Society.
What I luv about the Winchesters and Supernatural is that they have a deep history and the writers are not afraid to bring back old characters and situations. I was surprised by the little twist that they just needed Ellie's blood and not her body. I was surprised that the Thule Leader gave up his body for the Fuhrer. The actor playing both characters must have had a hoot playing just a straight laced Thule member and then transforming into a nutcase dictator.

Season 12 Episode 6 - "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox" - November 17, 2016

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural_(season_12)

In 1980 Emerson, Manitoba, a young boy named Asa Fox is attacked by a werewolf. Asa is saved by Mary Winchester who has been hunting the werewolf for a long time. Inspired by the meeting, Asa becomes a legendary hunter as he grows up before being killed in 2016. Learning of Asa's death, many hunters go to his wake including Sam, Dean, Mary and Sheriff Jody Mills who had been in a relationship with Asa. Things are awkward between the Winchesters before one of the hunters is found murdered. It is quickly realized that they are dealing with Jael, a sadistic Crossroads Demon who has had a grudge against Asa since Asa exorcised him in 1997. Jael locks Dean out of the house and everyone else in, but Dean is able to get in with help from Reaper Billie in exchange for owing her one. The hunters attempt to locate Jael who kills another hunter before possessing Jody. Jael reveals that he did not kill Asa as believed, rather Asa was killed by his best friend Bucky. While Jael is distracted with Bucky, the hunters manage to exorcise him from Jody and send Jael back to Hell. Bucky reveals that while hunting Jael, he and Asa got into a fight and Bucky accidentally killed him. Bucky framed Jael to protect himself and the hunters promise to spread the true story of Asa's death, disgracing Bucky. The next morning, the three dead hunters are burned while Billie arrives to try and collect Mary who she states doesn't feel like she belongs in the world. Mary refuses and though she decides not to return to the Bunker yet, she agrees to go out for breakfast with her children.
That was an interesting episode seeing a story from Mary's side and a part of Hunter Culture, I just thought it would have been a great opportunity for the boys to organize the other hunters a bit more with maybe Mary staying at the Bunker as organize it as a hub of knowledge for everyone to use. It seemed a lost opportunity to tell the other Hunters about the Men of Letters and the about the possible danger the British Men of Letters hold.

    Season 12 Episode 7 - "Rock Never Dies" - December 1, 2016

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural_(season_12)

Temporarily fixing his vessel with one of his fossilized angel feathers, Lucifer goes to Los Angeles reviving Vince Vincente's rock career for fresh worshipers. Dean, Sam, Castiel and Crowley try intimidating those in Vince's circle to find out where Lucifer's concert will be held without success. Lucifer's forcing Vince's manager to kill himself gets bandmate Tommy to text Castiel the location. Lucifer kills the rest of the band and beats Castiel and Crowley, though the Winchesters scare the rest of the humans away to safety. Lucifer reveals he has no plan, upset that God apologized to him only to leave again to be with Amara. Now Lucifer believes everything is pointless and he just wants to have fun by making people suffer and forcing his enemies to watch, powerless to stop him. The effort of the battle burns through Vince's body and Lucifer promises to go onto bigger things, escaping. Dean considers saving the crowd a win but Sam says Vince meant a lot to many people and they are just slowly losing without a way to stop Lucifer.
Nice to see Castiel, Crowley, Dean and Sam all together again.

    LA interesting.

Liked seeing Dean play games with his mom.

    Winter Finale

    Season 12 Episode 8 - "LOTUS" - December 8, 2016

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural_(season_12)

Lucifer begins possessing people of power and influence, eventually possessing Jefferson Rooney, the President of the United States. While possessing Rooney, Lucifer conceives a Nephilim with Rooney's staffer Kelley, while his actions draw the attention of the Winchesters, Crowley, Castiel and Rowena. Lucifer sends the Secret Service to stop the Winchesters, but they are rescued by Arthur Ketch of the British Men of Letters who provides them with a device capable of expelling an angel or demon from their vessel, even Lucifer. To draw Lucifer out into the open, Crowley kidnaps Kelly and they convince her to call Lucifer to a motel room where the Winchesters, Castiel, Crowley and Rowena ambush him. Using Arthur Ketch's device, Sam is able to exorcise Lucifer from Jefferson Rooney and Rowena casts a spell that banishes him back to his cage. However, the Winchesters are arrested by the Secret Service who believe they were attempting to assassinate the President. Rather than allow Castiel to make her get an abortion, Kelly flees.
Nice solid episode I liked how the British Men of Letters have developed some fun toys using technology and magic that the boys ended up using. I did wonder why they stayed behind with POTUS when Castiel & Kelly left and Crowly and Rowen also left, from the pacing of the scene they had the time and they knew the president was alive so why stay, that seemed so stupid.

Best line was Rowen telling Crowley after exploding her fiancé's head that was the sweetest thing he had ever done for her ... aaaaaah.

Will be back January 26, 2017 at a new time 8pm instead of 9pm to be followed by a new CW series called Riverdale. Considering how dark and violent Supernatural can be I thought 8pm might be a bit early for that type of show but I guess they want the lead in for Riverdale.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverd...017_TV_series)

Riverdale is an upcoming American teen drama television series based on the characters by Archie Comics. It has been ordered to series at The CW and is scheduled to air during the 2016–17 television season,[2] coinciding with the Archie character's 75th anniversary. The pilot is set to premiere on January 26, 2017 and is written by Archie Comics' chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive produced by Greg Berlanti.

Good to see Sam question all of the deaths. That whole band was killed! I know these are characters on a show, but it was getting ridiculous that Lucifer broke practically everyone's neck he came in contact with.

In Rock Never Dies I loved when Dean and Sam were trying to pretend to become up and coming rock stars. So funny. And Dean in his leather jacket - mrowr!

Castiel (Agent Beyonce) and Crowley are a riot together. I am so glad the show kept both Crowley and Rowena because they add a lot of snarky humor that is needed to diffuse all the tension.

LOTUS was interesting. I was glad to see D&S try to work with the Ketch (Kitch? what is his name?) from British MOL and start to see they could have something to offer. I did not like their stupidity of staying behind with the President. Crowley sneaked himself and Rowena out. And the guys had plenty of time to leave. Still not sure what actually happened to Lucifer - it looked like his smoke went into the air vents so is he back in the cage or just out in the ether somewhere?
