Well, I'm just saying, it would've been slightly more realistic to have found a pregnancy test in, say, the hatch that Claire had been taken to, rather than conveniently having one on the plane, which prompted Kate to ask the same question all the viewers had and the writers seemed to realize was a bit too convenient.

How can one of the Flight 815 survivors' brother be mistaken for an Other, don't they recognize everyone by now? And why would Henry have a story about a balloon crash instead of mentioning his brother is right there at camp?
And how far from the computer is the armory, considering an earlier diary entry indicates all of the survivors were given a schedule to go down and push the button. Kinda hard to hide Henry from that much traffic of people in and out of the hatch, I would think.

Yup. Asian names are built around characters, not letters. And Korean names traditionally have 3 syllables (2 for the first name, 1 for the last name). So he wanted to use part of his father's first name -- that is, one of the characters. And Sun wanted to use one of the characters from her mother's name. They could be combined in different ways with another part of the first name to make it a boy or girl's name. (Although I suppose in a day when "Apple" is a suitable name for a baby girl, anything goes...)

Why did they want to take a pregnancy test when they'd find out soon enough when they returned home from their trips? Because both of them were having trouble conceiving and their doctors wanted them to start taking some kind of medicine IF they did become pregnant. So to me, it's not implausible at all that people were traveling with pregnancy sticks.
I agree with whoever said the fertility doctor may have been lying about Sun and Jin not being able to have a baby. But even if he wasn't lying, I also know people who were told they were infertile and sure enough, they got pregnant. (My mom's friend lived her entire life knowing she couldn't have a baby, 'cause that's what all the specialists told her. She smoked and drank and then sure enough, she got pregnant with my friend (who didn't suffer from having a mom who smoked or drank, thankfully).) I think the doctors are right in most cases, but sometimes they make mistakes, too.
Regarding the question someone asked about wouldn't Sun have known she was pregnant since she was on the island for 2 months or however long... women under duress often lose their periods. Being marooned on an island would count as duress. Also, if they're not eating enough... a lot of elite athletes (gymnasts, figure skaters) lose their period all together.
I'd like to believe Sun never cheated on Jin, but one never knows!
p.s. Qboots is AMAZING with all the recaps. How can you watch the show AND do that at the same time? I watch the show and then come to the FORT to see what all I missed. And you guys never fail to amaze me with your wit and insight. Thanks to ALL!

It could depend on what was wrong with Jin as to why he was not able to father children. Some problems are can be affected by the environment that they live in. Its possible that the island could have affected Jin physically and that his "little soldiers" were called back into duty.

Makes sense. Locke was able to walk again, so why not Jin's "little soldiers"?

I wonder if the bald guy, Jae Lee, did have feelings for Sun. I remember last season when they had that arranged lunch and Sun thought that maybe he was the one. Then she finds out that he planned on going back to the states to be with this other woman. In last night's show, he mentioned that he had gone to America to be with that woman, but it didn't work out. Maybe he did come back to Korea to try to be with Sun again.
I totally thought she was meeting him for an affair, especially when she dropped her coat and they both bent down to pick it up and also the way she looked at him when they were standing by the window!
When Jae Lee and Sun were together in that suite and Sun was speaking to him in Korean, he told her to speak in English since she was fluent enough to be speaking English after a month of lessons.
So if Sun can become fluent enough to be able to speak English in one month's time....why hasn't she been teaching Jin to speak English on the island? They have been on the island almost two months. He even admitted last night that he needs her to talk to since he doesn't know how to speak in English. (And yes, I realize that Jin didn't know she spoke English until after they had been on the island for awhile and, again, he did go off on the boat and then was held captive by the tailies, etc.) I remember when he was getting ready to set sail, Sun gave him a list of words in English to help him when he was with Sawyer, Michael and Walt, but that's been it.
Seems to me that Sun would be able to help him learn how to speak English and that can only help him in the long run.

A few things...
1. With Jin's feelings of isolation when Sawyer and Bernard were talking about the pregnancy, I was certain he was going to ask Sun to help him learn English. Maybe that will come one day down the road.
2. When we first saw the promos, I thought the whole pregnancy test on a plane thing was absurd, too. But this issue was posted on another board and I was surprised that quite a few women said that they (or someone they knew had traveled with a pregnancy test. Hearing explanations/examples, such as the one a few posts up, it doesn't seem as silly to me anymore.
3. I need to pick your memories for a minute. My coworkers and I were talking and we seem to remember things differently so I thought I'd ask y'all. Think back to Claire's episode of the flashbacks in the medical hatch place. There was a short scene where Ethan was talking to another man about "He's" going to be mad (about Claire), blah, blah, blah... was that other guy Zeke without a disguise? I didn't think it was. I took the "He" as being Zeke. My friends say Zeke was the other guy in the conversation and "He" is someone that we haven't identified yet. I really didn't think their features were that similar but they say it was the same actor. What did you guys it as? I'm sure it was discussed but I can't seem to remember what was decided.

I think someone (probably Qboots, who knows EVERYTHING! ) and others on this board also noted that it was definitely Zeke. I think when Kate and Claire were in the medical hatch, they found a locker room. They saw a beard, makeup glue, etc. So while Zeke was clean shaven when he was talking to Ethan, he was bearded and made up to look scruffier when he was on the boat and when he and more of the Others encircled Jack, Kate, etc. that one night....when Zeke actually told them that this was their island, etc.

Thanks, Mama! That all makes sense. I remember all the dress up stuff but still. I really thought the two looked totally different. I mean, it so obviously makes sense that it was him with all the costuming found but in my head I still had them separate. Oh, well. Now I know for sure! Thanks dear!

Thanks for the thanks, but the real thanks go to Qboots and the others on here who really don't miss a beat with this show. I mean I think I really watch the show...you know, pay attention, etc....and I do get really annoyed if anyone in my house dare speak to me during the show (commercials allowed!). Then I come on here and am just amazed at how much I didn't "get" when I really was watching!

My friends from Korea (who tell me that the English translations aren't always exactly what Jin and Sun are actually saying in Korean) told me something that I found really interesting. They said that a woman of Sun's upbringing in Korea would've known how to speak English by the time she was in grammar school and definitely by high school. They said that it's taught in almost all grammar schools because Koreans want their children to grow up to be able to compete in the global market. And upper class Korean children not only learn English at school, but also have private tutors to teach them the slang etc.. By the time they're in college, most are fluent.
And now that I think about it, the students I knew in college from Korea who were studying in the U.S. had accents, but they were all fluent in the language and often spoke Spanish or French as well--and these were just middle class kids, not super rich kids... (And remember in the flashbacks when they're setting Sun up on blind dates, the elders go on and on about her good schooling etc.)
I'm not saying ALL Koreans are fluent in English 'cause this obviously isn't the case. BUT, someone with all the advantages Sun had would be at least competent in the language before she was married and an adult.
