Are you people bonkers? I was away for 5 days and there are about 11 new pages of posts here, and there hasn't even been a new episode in that time!

Also, I was intrigued by Dr. Candle saying "don't attempt to use the computer for any...." and then the sentence getting cut off by the jumpiness of the projector. Any what?!

Just a note about Alvar Hanso. On the Hanso website he is described as a "philanthropist with a deep-seated sense of humility". Sounds like the very polar opposite of Anthony Cooper. And I can't remember the exact phrasing (I need to rewatch the episode) but Cooper told Locke that he had conned him, and had conned others before him. He's more likely to be the guy who conned Sawyer's parents than Alvar Hanso. Also, Hanso provided munitions to resistance movements in Europe during WW2, so wouldn't that make him about 90? I don't think the guy at the window in the video was Locke's father.

Yes, but that doesn't mean the logo isn't significant as far as the story line goes. I've read of other instances in which the writers used something that was already there -- like Jack's tattoos -- and wove them into the story. I could see them getting a plane with logos and saying, "Hey, those could be useful, let's put them in other places."

That's exactly what I was thinking. The producers of this show have proven incredibly adept at using what is available to them in a creative way - for instance, having the Korean woman come in to read Kate and deciding that wasn't really the right role for her, but creating two new non-English speaking (ha!) characters so they could use her. I don't think it's at all disappointing to find that this symbol may have been found somewhere other than inside someone's imagination. Just makes me admire them more for their creativity.

It's cool, xjeff, no need to apologize. We don't normally spoiler tag speculation, but it shows how powerful those pictures are. I think they're very revealing.

I hope it's the case, too. If you think about it, why did we get so much info about the Dharma project? It's not like that's habitual on this show. Obviously, the Utopia described in the film didn't materialize, so what went wrong?

hepcat: "so what went wrong?" Perhaps it was the incident? Possibly resulting in "the sickness" we have heard so much about, maybe even some genetic mutations? One thing about the Degroots, from the orientation film- they appeared to be highly intelligent, so anything is possible, but to me - it looks as if things went really bad.

Something else I saw mentioned in cyberspace is that the Dr. in the orientation film doesn't move one of his arms. I went back and re-watched it and sure enough, he appears to have one prosthetic arm. He even gives the final "namaste" with one hand only.

The French woman said a member of her team lost an arm...but I don't think the timing fits. But they like to parallel/repeat things on this show - Locke's legs, then Sarah's legs, that kind of thing.

My excuse is that I finally have a bit of time to finally watch TV, what with landscaping season finally slowing down, and my failure to get excited any longer over ANTM #22 and other Shark-jumping reality shows that, if they were a regular series, would have been canned faster than the 2 episode Chris O'Donnel show was!

cricketeen Thanks for the link and the great laughs! I particularly like the 12th step, which claims that "12 step programs don't work on LOST fans!" I'm having a friend print it out for me and I'm keeping it close to the computer; mind, even though it's close, it doesn't mean I'll follow it, just like my 12 Step Program for Starbucks!

It looks like a fun, silly sight. I've already got the "Abram's Island" theme stuck in my head. I really do need to have that 12 Step Program printed out...stat!

Locke[/B] suddenly being able to walk now that he's on the island: It's entirely possible that his paralysis was psychological (or psychosomatic), and whatever mental block he had crumbled in the face of surviving that horrific crash.



It is safe to assume that the paralysis wasn't a direct result of the kidney transplant surgery, and last we saw him in flashbacks, he was losing his (first?) true love AND was dealt another crushing blow by his blood father. He was already in some type of group therapy already... maybe this just made him snap.

That's what I was saying last week, but no-one seemed to go for it. Remember how his leg started going numb while he and Boone were unsuccessfully trying to open the hatch? Perhaps he was subconsciously feeling that the island was "conning" him. In one scene he yells to the island that he did everything it wanted; the light comes on in the hatch. Shortly after that, his leg started to regain feeling.

By the way, didn't you get the impression that he was in some type of anger-management therapy? Suppressed anger can manifest itself physically in some unpleasant ways.

Of course Locke would disagree with all of that.
