It was a fitting farewell to the show. Though, like everyone, I wished it wasn't a farewell at all. I hope each of them end up on something else. I really enjoyed most of the actors.

But the dad was adamant about sticking to the deal. So the renovated garage was a compromise---and since A & C are going to be away for a year he can stay in the house and supervise until it is done. Win/win.

I will miss it as well---a lot of nice characters, pleasant to spend a weekend hour with. Plus I've always liked Judd Hirsch, so was glad to see him in such steady employment. And, while of course they exaggerated the qualities of academics it wasn't all THAT far off based on my experience---and for once the faculty weren't English profs. (who, of course, are the people who write about academia).

Re Don vs. the Alaskan doctor.... since the actor has put on some weight since he was in Alaska I didn't recognize him at first, so that helped. But interesting that he can be convincing as both a very neurotic NYC Jewish doctor and a down to earth cop who only has the remotest connection to religion (until this last season anyway). Now he's going to be a defense attorney---that could go in either direction!

Thanks PWS - makes sense to me. I knew that - just needed a refresher.

I've been a huge Rob Morrow fans since Northern Exposure - he's the reason I started watching this show and I will blindly follow him anywhere
