What was her Top secret? It is the only reason why I watched yesterday, but I missed it.

If you watched her show in her earlier years she was much different. I havent watched Oprah much this week except for yesterday, because I thought her "top secret" or whatever you want to call it was an apology to the people at hermes. Oprah is very preachy, and likes to tell us what's important in life, and I guess for her, its a hermes bag.
    I dont assume anything.

And I did watch her show in earlier years. Its just a matter of likes and dislikes. I like her and some of you don't. I work fulltime so I dont watch her every day but when I can I do. If she upsetted me that much, I wouldnt watch her. But I guess, that wouldnt allow me to complain about her then, now would it?

Her secret.... was about her hair! hahahaha! I had read earlier this week that the show was about her hair-do. So yes... she dedicated time to talking about herself a little more.

Appearantly, she claims, that everyone hated her straight hair-do. She spent the first portion of her show talking about her hair, so maybe next week she will talk about her nails. hahaha!

What amazed me was that 3-4 year old girl that already had rotten teeth and the Mother had the same issue. All I could think was the Mother probably wasn't 35 years old yet and she was in such poor health.
Hey Gaby, I just did a search for this documentary. I'm assuming it is "American Hollow" which turned up in my search. Sounds interesting, hope I can catch it sometime.

Yes, the Kentucky family deeply affected me. Especially when the woman said that she gets upset when people just assume they are "dumb hillbillies".

I guess on that level Oprah is doing her job of making us "aware". I know that Kentucky has people living in the mountains, I know that unemployment is an issue in Kentucky, but I guess I never sat and thought about these people losing their teeth because they aren't getting enough calcium.

Amazing that it takes the likes of Oprah (with her millions) and Maria Shriver (with her name and persona) to do it. At least they're willing ... and as long as it keeps Tom Cruise off her couch, I'll probably keep watching.

See, that is our problem (and I am including myself in this). We keep on criticizing Oprah and other celebrities about what they give and don't give. How many of us actually give money (what we can afford) or better yet our time to help those in need. It's easy to sit there in the peanut gallery, but really, I'm ashamed at myself for not doing anything.

How about being a nice person?? I bet your that. A lot of celebrities aren't nice, and its important to be nice.

I volunteer at an animal rescue one day a week, not much. But its something. I also gave what I could to Katrina money wise, not much(but what I could afford)

Personally I am not complaining. I am just stating MY opinion about the talk show host I really admired before.

Last time I checked I have the right to voice my opinion the same way as you have yours.

Who is anyone to begrudge someone else because they aren't nice?
It doesn't hurt to not care sometimes about what other people do/ don't do.
And lets be honest here, it's not really an obligation, more like a character flaw.

I was searching around on TiVo lately and - came across the Oprah show in the list of what's on. I clicked on it, and it said something like, "Oprah's bad hair day." Is she KIDDING?

(I know others have said this too. I had to chime in with the What th'...)

FWIW I like her hair curly, wavy, straight... she has a good weave. I liked it w/out the weave too. But... is it that slow of a news day? 20,000 people dead in Asia... war in Iraq continues... I am all for light entertainment but - is next show gonna be "Oprah finds some gum on the floor"? "Oprah steps on a bug"? "Oprah snags a nail"?

    LOL?? sigh

I went to the show once and they absolutely won't tell you who or what the subject is going to be until you are sitting in your seat in the studio. I am guessing for some there is a "casting call" such as are you so and so's biggest fan, and they call them to come to the show but for most there is definately no telling who or what you will see.
I think they do stack the audience. Even years ago her various employees and such were given first dibs on seats if there was anyone like a celeb there etc., the air's a bit thin over at Harpo. From not letting any fresh in. A relative used to work for her and got to see some celeb that way, I forget who, now, too long ago. That's not unusual for shows - popular shows, I mean. Just seemed like more often and more so at Harpo, from what I heard.
