    Re: Oprah

It was on television just this morning; CBS, I think. They said that Maria was at dinner with Stedman, Oprah, and Gayle when she got the call and that she got became very upset. They did not say who called.

I'm beting that she had inklings for years, but as long as no one says it out loud, you can pretend that it is not so.

Whenever you get through with it......women know. Now, whether they admit it is another thing. Men just aren't that smart.

That is floating around but it doesn't sound right. Why would she answer her phone in a restaurant having a nice dinner with friends? And who called her? I dont believe this yet.

who doesn't answer their phones during a dinner anymore? It seems to be normal.

I don't know how true or false that whole scenario is, but Arnold was notorious for being a womanizer - Maria knew and looked the other way. In all probability she knew about the kid and found out it was going to get leaked, so she made the first move by leaving Ahnold.

heard on my local news this morning that a man from Ontario falsing reported being assaulted and having his tickets to Oprah's farewell show stolen - all because he didn't have the balls to tell his wife they went all the way to Chicago and couldn't get into the show....

I know that Oprah is not into cell phones that much and would consider it rude to use one at dinner. I just have a hunch that wouldnt have happened with this group. It sounds odd. There are some missing links in this story that will come out at some point.

I have no doubt that Maria was not blind to his ways but their housekeeper? in their bed? continuing to live in their house and be friendly to Maria? I just don't think her imagination went that far.

    Re: Oprah

I read the story on a gossip website. It reported that Maria was at the dinner, took a phone call, was upset, and left soon after the call. It never says what the call was about. I doubt any of her closest friends who were with her would share that information, so any reports are only speculation. Right after this was supposed to take place, Arnold released a statement to the LA Times. So I could believe that Maria had known about the child earlier, that led to their split, and the phone call informed her that Arnold was going public. I could believe that Maria's phone would ring, she'd ignore it, and after the same person called back a second or third time, she'd answer. But I don't believe that it was in THAT phone call that Maria found out about the child. More likely that's when she found out the rest of the world would know about it soon.

This makes sense if, indeed, there was a phone call. I have read this several places but never with a witness or source named. A waiter? Diner at another table? It just doesnt seem to have legs. I mean a phone call that made her leave dinner upset. Doesn't sound right.

Yes, but Oprah doesn't have children - Maria does.

I'll bet Maria knew something like this was going on, but my feeling is that she probably didn't know the who of it. If she did, I think she would have left a long time ago....or at least would have fired the baby mama sooner and not just in January.

    Good points. Both make sense.

I really want to know what brought this to a head. How did it come out? It had been a secret for 13 years. Why now? What happened?
