Last time I checked the Eastenders BBC website, it was approximately one year ahead of BBC Canada. That was about six or seven months ago...I'm not sure if it's still the same. Of course if you go there the BBC Canada epis are all spoiled, and they do love to kill people off, so be prepared.
Ah yes, how Ontario-centric of me. Hm, I keep intending to check it out but then not getting around to actually watching the episodes. I read too many british magazines though so I know all about the current goings-on with Mini Den/Zoe/Sharon and Alfie/Kat etc etc.
Hope you are feeling better.

The new producer has started to really kick the show up the a**e.
The Ferrerias have been axed. They were meant to be a close family, but they never worked.
The Miller family have arrived. They make the Slaters seem the height of sophistication!
She has changed all the up and coming storylines and all the actors are working until they drop to film them
New heartthrob is to be the guy who played Dawn's boyfriend in "The Office"

EE has had a bit of a torrid time recently but hopefully things are on the up!

Re: Eastenders

I've been watching EastEnders for the past year on PBS (Colorado). It's the 2000 season (Pat & Frank's affair, The Slaters arrive, Mel & Steve). I just got the Dish Network PPV subscription of the current (2007) EastEnders. The episodes are 6 weeks behind England but what a great show! It's definitely worth $9.95 a month to watch. I've wondered if there are many American fans? I haven't met anyone (other than people on the internet) who has ever heard of it.

I am an American who loved EastEnders when I lived in Florida and it was carried on PBS. Then I made a move I regret and I haven't had access to it in years. I probably wouldn't know many (or any) of the characters anymore; I watched in the early years, but I do miss it.

Re: Eastenders

My mother and I watched EastEnders religiously on the Philadelphia PBS station from the time it started running here in 1988 until they took it off the air a few years ago (I believe we had just gotten to the part where Saskia's body was found). Broke my heart when they took it off - it was my all-time favorite television show. I especially loved the early days - Den and Angie running the pub and fighting all the time, Sharon, Michelle, Ian and Kelvin in high school, Lofty - he was a hoot! Simon Wickes (yum!) zooming into the square for the first time in his sports car, the ladies of the Square going to the Isle of Dogs for their darts tournament (where Pat meets up with Frank again)...

Actually, I loved so many of the characters over the years, even ones that were not so loveable! One thing I enjoyed so much is that they all looked like REAL people - not glammed up, super hot Hollywood types like we get on US soaps.

Aw, rats. I'm feeling all sentimental now!

We Brits like gritty soaps. I think part of the appeal is that your own life has got to be better than in the soap!

EE is now 22 years old. Ian Beale is the only remaining original character, and he is still a real prat!
