I was also surprised, Bearcata, how much of an impact one actress/actor can have on an entire show. The episode felt entirely different without Aly as Willow. Willow brought so much more to the part, it was obvious in even the first aired episode. She made the part her own.

Snowflakegirl...where did you first watch it? On line also? I wasn't even aware that it was out there. Anyhow, watch it again so we can talk about it more!

I watched Angel too, but always perferred Buffy. Although nothing was as funny as the last Angel season when Angel and Spike interacted.
I loved the story arcs from the last season of Angel with Illyria, I do wish Angel managed one more season before ending. At points I thought the writers had written themselves into several corners but they always managed to get out of them. Angel was much darker then Buffy and I liked that it was grittier and more realistic. In the battle between good and evil people die, Doyle, Cordy, Fred and Wesley. I like how Wesley grew from a naive Watcher into a dangerous rogue demon hunter. He had some very complex relationships and made some very hard decisions that caused him to suffer much more than Angel ever did. He was very human and I liked that he could see the big picture, the good, the bad and the ugly and deal with it and make decision for the greater good although it would cost him very dearly. I like that Joss Wedon is able to write a character like that and not make them stagnant. Wedon also has a gift for casting the right person for the role. I hope that Joss Wedon is not finished with TV cause we need more stories like Buffy and Angel.

Good observations, Bearcata. Especially about Joss having a gift for perfect casting (sometimes I wonder how Cordy would have done as Buffy, since that's the role she originally tried out for. I can't picture it.).

Angel was definitely darker than Buffy. The whole thing with Fred dying, after such a lighthearted romp the week before (with the puppet of Angel). It was brutal. Joss seemed great at having characters we thought we knew, completely change course and become entirely different (Evil Angel, Evil Willow, Fred vs. Illyria and Wesley from Buffy, vs. Wesley from Angel). It seems as though Wesley from Buffy and Wesley from Angel were so different, they were almost different characters. I still laugh when I think of Wesley on the 2nd season of Buffy, in the girls restroom, screaming like a girl when Cordy touched his arm (he had been fighting a vamp, I think). So funny, versus the brooding Wesley he became over time on Angel.

I never watched Angel myself, or Firefly, but I was a diehard Buffy fan. I never really loved Angel himself all that much; I liked him with Buffy but I didn't like the character enough to follow him to his own show.

Ooooooo!!! I will mark that on my calendar!! I never watched Buffy when it was on air. I somehow stumbled on to recaps online and became hooked. I've watched season 2,3 and 4. Season 5 is on order. But I have read each recap for the whole series and transcripts on TwixTv. Truly obsessed....

Oh you are so lucky! 4 more, all-new (to you) seasons for you to watch. Find season One, too. It's fun to see everyone so young.

Buffy was one of the best shows back in the day lol I remember anxiously awaited the next episode each week, all the episodes were nearly cliff hangers and such...not all, but most were, it really got me hooked!

Buffy still is one of the best things ever to hit television. There's a really great podcast available on Itunes for those of you that miss it. It's by the guys at geekshow, and it's the Buffy Buffcast. They analyze all 7 seasons, and also have another podcast for Angel doing the same for all 5 seasons. It's well done, well thought out & has filled a little bit of the void.

On an aside, the season finale (which just re-ran on Monday night) of "How I Met Your Mother" had guest appearances of both Wesley (who's married to Alison Hannigan and sounds really funny speaking normally), and Fred. It was rather cute & nostalgic to see them both.

My cousin lent me his Chosen Collection Box Set, and I've been hooked since. I'm currently towards the end of Season 5, and I really like the series. So far seasons 2 and 3 have been my favorite seasons. I've heard the series kind of diminishes in quality after season 3 by a little bit with season 6 being the worst, but I haven't gotten there yet, so I don't know. Any opinions on that? I am a total fan of the Buffy/Angel relationship (haven't gotten to her with Spike yet, but I just don't see true love with that relationship, and I absolutely despise Riley). Aww...I'm so sad that I'm almost done with Buffy as it is a very good show. Joss Whedon is a pure genius. Try Firefly.

^^Season 3 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is, in my humble opinion, the second best season of any show, ever. It used to be the best season of any show ever. That is until 2004 when Season One of Veronica Mars blew it away. Again, just my opinion!

Season three...ah, the memories! Faith, "Slayerfest '97", Wesly trying to woo Cordelia, the Mayor being the "big bad". Ah, good stuff, good stuff!

Season four with Adam was pretty good, a nice change of pace. Season 5 with Glory was pretty good. S5 contains probably the best single episode of the series (and one of the best television shows ever) "The Body". Simply brilliant.
Season 6-7...eh, with the exception of a show here or there (LOVED the finale!) was so-so. Buffy definitely left when it was time.

NOW! Y'all should be watching Veronica Mars! Not only is Alyson Hannigan in season one, Charisma Carpenter plays a prominent role as-love the name!-Kendall Casablancas in season two. They share a scene in S2. Come on, Buffy fans, show Ms. Mars some love!!!

I know, I know...I've never watched, don't know why. Still I didn't watch Buffy when it was on either. Sometimes its better to wait for the DVD's. Joss Whedon speaks very highly of VM.

I saw the pilot for Buffy on TV last night. Guess I have to buy season 1 now. I thought it would be a little cheezie but was pleasantly surprised. But no Spike...sigh...
