I love Skeet, but I thought the retooling of the show was much better and the stories were much better, too.
Problem was it had too long a hiatus and then not enough time - with the new cast - to allow it to pick up steam.

Meloni (Stabler) is leaving SVU. Which will be weird. I wonder if they are going to have a replacement or if they will just show the other characters (ie Munch, Finn) more.
Edited to add: just read that Hargitay (Benson) will only be appearing in half of the episodes next season...changes all around. The original L & O went through many cast changes, of course, but SVU has always been so entrenched around Benson and Stabler I'm not sure what it will be like in future.

I'm very surprised that Meloni's talks broke down. Though, until the season starts taping I'm holding out that he will return for even partial episodes like Hargitay. I'm curious to see what happens!
I love stabler but benson is a wash for me. I would be fine watching fin and his partner..i love those guys!
L&O was able to "replace" characters because they just did it one at a time. Here they might be losing both of the leads. I like Fin & love Munch, but I don't know that they can sustain the show by themselves. I wonder if they will try & move over someone from L&O:LA.

And with L&O the turnover happened almost seasonally - how long has SVU been on the air – the only replacement I recall happened very early on, when one detective left and they replaced him with Iced Tea. (not including the revolving ADAs that is – the main detectives have remained the same throughout several seasons.
With CI – it was always Goren and Eames until they alternated with Logan and Barek and her replacements – but they were never replaced.

IMO Law & Order has made some terrible cast decisions. McKoy was a brilliant choice. He was perfect to replace the first D.A., but when they moved McKoy and brought in the next D.A., I was VERY disappointed. That role was too big for that actor IMO and I walked from the show. He annoyed me to no end.
I also didn't care for the first two detectives they paired Vincent D'Onofrio with. One had red hair and the other very short brown hair. They never struck a cord in L&O CI. The blonde and most recent one was my favorite, though she never seemed to have many ideas of her own. Without her partner, would she have ever solved a case?
you mean the one they stuck with Chris Noth's character - Annabella Sciorra was the first girl, then it was something Nicholson, and for her mat leave it was a long haired red head - never liked her. D'ONofrio was always with Eames - although someone must've replaced her for her mat leave, but can't remember who.
I loved Cutter - I think having McCoy as the DA made the difference.

With the exception of a seven episode arc in season three while Kathryn Erbe was on maternity leave and Goren was partnered with Lyn Bishop, Eames has been his only partner. You are likely thinking of the various people that Logan (Chris Noth) and Nichols (Jeff Goldblum) have been partnered with.
