I assumed Catherine would step into his shoes while he's gone. Why bring someone else in if they're not going to stay .. ?? WHY? WHY? WHY?

I can't believe Grissom is leaving the next episode, it won't be the same.

I read that he will be back in time for February sweeps. I have thought for a long time that they have been seeking a way to write him out ... such as the hearing defect, etc.

They definitely should have a female lead in one of these CSI's.
Personally, I think Emily Procter as Callie Duquesne has turned out to be a much better actor than David Caruso as Horatio Caine on CSI Miami. They should have sent her over as a temporary replacement for Grissom

Grissom is going to teach a college class (San Francisco?) and assures he will be back in 4 weeks. I don't know if that's 4 weeks real time or 4 weeks network time, which could mean not until the finale.

I knew when that box arrived it would have a miniature. So whats his name who made the pieces was telling the truth when he said he wasn't the killer. But he did kill himself so maybe he was just mental or maybe he knew who the killer is.

Oh, also glad they addressed the whole Sam leaving/not leaving Catherine money. All the money is tied up in the casino according to Catherine and she hasn't seen a dime. My husband thinks she just doesn't want people to not take her seriously on the job so she's pretending not to have received any.

I'm confused about last night's ep. It was explained why the son killed the other mother-daughter (he thought he was at his own home) but did they ever explain why he killed the mother-daughter outside the restaurant? Or was he not implicated in that killing? Also, why did he kill his own mother? Because he thought she denied him access to the house?? I know he wasn't convicted of his own mothers killing though so maybe he really didn't kill her. Maybe it was the miniature-maker serial killer. Sometimes the plot moves so fast I can't keep up.

FYI - the lawyer who is Catherine's nemesis is her real-life husband. It's fun to see them banter back and forth. They have great on-screen chemistry, and off-screen I'm sure as well.

He was not implicated in the murder outside the restaurant. That murder used a .25 calibur weapon and the murders of the mother/daughter and his own mother used a .38. They did not explain why he killed his own mother other than briefly stating that his bags were packed beside the door, implying that she was kicking him out. This was one of the reasons Catherine was convinced he did it.
