Another great episode. I have to tape the show and watch it the next morning. Today I got up early and was still a bit sleepy, so I fell asleep watching and when I woke up Charlie was lying dead on the ground. What a shocker! My first thought was kudos to Dom and the show for saying that Charlie would be sticking around and then surprising us. That got me thinking about how easy it would be to mislead us. Can we really trust all that stuff Danielle told Sayid? Were there other shipwreck survivors? Did she really kill them? Does she even know what real? We certainly don't. IIRC, what Jack did to restart Charlie's heart is akin to using a defibrillater to shock it into beating. I still don't trust Locke. The whole time he was looking for Charlie & Claire he was doing things that could be interpreted as suspicious. He tried to get both Jack and Boone to leave at different times. He seemed to only really want Kate along. I wonder why. He wanted to stop following the trail of tape letters, which DID lead to Charlie. It was Boone who found the buried metal thing. All these things and more COULD indicate he's not as helpful as he seems - or not. Just another example of the fine writing, acting and directing on LOST - keeping us guessing. I loved it when Walt said to Sawyer, "It's stupid to lie about your name." Hee, hee, wonder if we'll found out Sawyer's real name, and when.

I thought it was weird for Kate to ask Jack who he heard - I mean, did she forget who they were looking for?? And watching the tape over again, she looks around like Jack does as soon as the screams are heard, like she's trying to determine where it's coming from, as well, so her comment at that time didn't make sense. I don't like the Michael/Walt storyline, it's just irritating to me at this point - how he tells Walt to "stay with Hurley" instead of asking Hurley to watch him or anything else showing a semblance of responsibility, and just in general how he treats Walt. Will be glad when that whole situation is resolved. I think the focus on Jack's father placing his hand on the husband's shoulder made Jack realize that his father is quite familiar and comfortable lying to people or getting them on his side, and that it was probable his dad had lied before and will again. As far as Locke being able to predict the rain down to the minute - I wonder if maybe it rains at the same time everyday, but no one has noticed yet? Hey, just thought I would add my own farfetched theory to this show, heh. ![]()

I agree with Mozz that the hand on the shoulder of the bereaved husband made Jack realize he'd been conned/used. Which made it easier for him to turn his dad in when he found out about the baby. Re the child and his dad... I didn't tape the show so I'm not sure of this but when he was playing with Hurley he mentioned a man's name and when Hurley asked , who's that, he said my other dad. Would this be a step dad who lost custody? Or is his dad gay (despite all the innuendo with the Korean woman?)? Edited to add that I see at least a couple of others noticed the "other dad", too. Sorry--sort of reading the posts backwards. Re the scream... I also thought Kate didn't hear anything, just thought Jack had lost his mind. And count me among those with tears in the eyes when I thought Charlie'd really died.

![]() It was very sad, and the sad-music didn't help any, either. I really thought Charlie wasn't going to make it. Which for some reason led me to the purgatory theory again They are all already dead, and they are just there to try to come to terms with their unresolved issues. ![]()

Regarding the rain, I seem to remember reading that in those countries that have a monsoon season the rains come at almost the same time every day, but that was still weird when Locke called it to the minute. | |

When Walt was talking about his other dad (Bryan, was it?) I took it to mean that Bryan was his mom's husband and maybe they both died in an accident or something, which is why Walt was granted custody to Michael instead of Bryan. Because if Bryan had adopted him, he would still have custody even with his mom being dead, would he not? Since Walt already had another dad, that's why he knows nothing about his real dad - if Michael had never met him and was never involved with his life and he already had another father figure, his mom probably never felt the urge to tell Walt anything about Michael. It makes me wonder if Walt or Michael ever knew about each other before his mom died. That could be why they are so distant with each other - it has to be awkward to find out you have a son or a father under traumatic circumstances and not know how to deal with it. I never thought Michael was gay; I didn't get that vibe at all. I thought he was offended not because of sexuality, but because of race. Locke's "go south" comment could easily have been rubbed the wrong way with the way he worded it and how he said it. I bristled a bit at the comment. And Michael thought Jin was beating on him because of his color (before he knew anything about the watch). So my thoughts are that he thinks he's being treated as second class because of his color, not because of sexual orientation. ![]()
