| I was having a lot of trouble here last night and finally gave up. My thoughts on Locke: He has been the catalyst to the deeper unfolding of several characters. Jack was informed by Locke's take on his father issues. Charlie was helped to help himself with Locke's 3-step program and moth metaphor. Because of Locke's suggestions to Sayid, he revisited a part of himself he had buried, forcing him to strike out on his own. If Locke hadn't pushed Sayid into confronting Sawyer, Sawyer wouldn't have revealed his past to Kate. Whether he has morphed into the mouthpiece of the beautifyl/horrible island (which the show's producers warned us against) or whether he is an observant (first 2 episodes) logistics person (war games)...or whether he is so satisfied with his legs being restored (enabling him to hunt wild boar) that he is able to focus on others' situations objectively is almost beside the point. He has been a major catalyst in the last 3 shows. And is very centered while doing it. Everyone else is operating under a certain amount of hysteria. If you go back to what we know about the real John Locke, one of his points was that everyone viewing the same event has a different idea of what's happening because of their own life experiences and expectations. This is certainly true among the cast and here on the forum! Did anyone else pick up that it has been 2 weeks now since the crash. Last time I remember it being mentioned it was 6 days. Charlie sure has bounced back from his withdrawal!

| Very well put, gutmutter. Locke as the "catalyst"... a good way to describe him. |

| Next week's episode: -------------------- Wednesday, November 17, 8/7c "Solitary" Sayid's life is placed in grave danger after he stumbles upon the source of the mysterious French transmission. Meanwhile, Hurley has a ridiculous plan to make life on the island a little more civilized — and it just might work. |

| Next week sounds really good. Hope we get an interesting background on Sayid. Damn, he's good-looking.

| Wow, that episode was just what we needed! Sawyer (or who ever he is!) has a lot of issues to deal with... lost in his own anguish. Poor guy. I believe Sayid knew exactly where to stab Sawyer; he didn't seem too surprised when Jack told him he had hit an artery. (All that special "communications" training came in handy) I couldn't stand the bamboo under the fingernails!! Jack sure wasn't happy to be doing it either.I kept thinking, WHY in the world would Sawyer go through all that if he didn't even have the stinkin' medicine!? Then I realized: He REALLY wants Kate bad. (Poor girl. Wish I had two hot guys chasining me! I'd pick Jack for sure-- Sawyer is just too dangerous... yikes!) Props to her for throwing an elbow in his face though! After that kiss and he told her he didn't have it, I was yelling "SLAP HIM!" so I was clapping when she knocked him one! ![]() I'm in the "It's the French Lady" camp as far as who knocked Sayid out. I'm excited to see his background story next week! I agree that Locke is a wee bit on the creepy side, but I still like him and think he's a good guy at heart. There may be something going on with him and the island, but I think he may have just had a "miracle" happen during the plane crash and woke up with use of his legs (a pinched nerve or something became unpinched by the crash). My question, though, is why are his leg muscles so strong if he's been in a wheelchair, not even able to wiggle his toes? He seems to be having no trouble tromping off through the woods in search of wild boars. ![]() I also wanted to add that I think Boone and Shannon are ok-- they were all bickering and being selfish in the beginning beacuse Shannon thought they were definitely going to be rescued right away. She's scared now. They're beginning to realize that they'll be there for a while and she has no medicine... she needs her brother. I thought that scene was endearing. |

| I think what Sawyer really wanted was to be hurt and hated. It's his personal penance for becoming a con man. He wants to hurt the con-man who "killed" his parents... and he has become that man, so he hurts himself. Does that make sense? Can anyone verify that at one point Sawyer said to Kate: "I watched Jack die..." ? I'm pretty sure I heard it wrong and am wondering if anyone can tell me what he really said. Also, the Lost site doesn't have the music up for this epy yet. Anyone know what it was? |

| He's still just a hurt little boy inside which was brought to the surface by seeing the little boy of the folks he was about to con. We still don't know what he was doing in Australia, do we?
