| Yeah elfgirl... i think that they overdo the storylines of a few characters, including Sarah Louise. Seems to go in cycles.... Karen & Steve (& Joe), Roy & Haley, Richard & Gail, the Harris/Nelson clan... I have noticed that the once character-based story lines are now more drama-based. If your really think about it, many of the recent storylines involving the characters already mentioned are unbelievable. I think the reason I like Sarah is because I find her acting quite believeable (even if the storylines are a bit over-the-top). There are usually a couple of people that I find really annoying... right now it is Katy and Maya... The Duckies are always a favourite... Cilla (or Gobzilla I think they call her on CSVU ) is quite the low-budget personality. She suits Les to a T. |

| After watching today's omnibus, I couldn't help thinking how much I dislike Katy... she has a really big mouth and it seems unbelieveable that she could turn on her father like that, no matter what he has said or done in the past. Katy's got a big gob, Craig is a trembling wimp, Tommy is an angry neanderthal... which leaves Angela, who is a caring and classy lady. She should find a new family, in my opinion... ![]() By the way, isn't Bethany just the cutest thing? I can't take my eyes off her... |

| I agree, Katy, her attitude, the way she twists her face when she is spewing her nasty remarks, it all rubs me the wrong way. I can't imagine what got into the writers to put a 16 year old girl together with a 35 yr old man! Its a pairing that feels wrong. Another character who has a real mouth on her is Janice Battersby. I pity anyone who gets on her bad side. Last night on CBC was an excellent little documentary on Richard Hillman and all the background on that storyline. I didn't know, for instance, that Maxine wanted off the show and writers didn't want her leaving by ditching Ashley or cheating on him and leaving the street with another man, so they realized that having Richard kill her when he was trying to do in Emily, would be the perfect way to have Maxine leave the show. Also when Gail had to do the scenes in the water where Richard drives the van, she had to tell the writers she couldn't swim. She had several lessons to get her thru. |

| I recently bought the book "Coronation Street". It's a big fat book, probably about 1000 pages long, but to tell the truth I've never watched the show! Judging from the discussion here it sounds like the book will be good. Has anyone read the book? I must hurry and finish Anna Karenina, another 1000 pager, and get to Coronation Street!

I missed that, because I didn't peruse my TV guide closely enough. CBC is airing 2 more specials Wednesday at 8:00 and 9:00 PM. I believe the first one is on Peter Barlow and the second one is on weddings.

| I also hope that they keep the Sunday omnibus going. I usually make a big pot of coffee, then sit and enjoy the show. I don't know what I would do without my traditional Sunday morning lounge... I haven't made my mind up as to what I think about that Charlie Mr-fix-it guy. Poor Jack 'n Vera... what will they do with such an enormous fridge (other than support the ceiling with it)? One person I really took a shine to was Archie Shuttleworth. He was amazing. So funny how he used to eye someone over after an initial introduction and guess their dimensions. I really miss him. I was hoping that he would get together with Audrey. They seemed well suited, I thought. I had read that he was not interested in the new five episodes per week format and decided to leave... but come back periodically to do a guest spot. I am still hoping to see him again... |

| There's a special on tonight about Peter Barlow and another about Corrie weddings over the years. The shows start right after tonight's episode. I agree with those who don't like Katy. It really bugged me that, when she was talking to her mum about her suspicion that her dad had tried to kill Martin, she yelled "My dad's no hero". Uh, I'd say jumping in the lake to save Gail and the kids is pretty heroic. I really don't like her hair style either. ![]() | |
