Dr Phil is not better then talk show has beens like Jenny Jones, Ricki, Sally or Jerry. His show ambushes people, in the same ways as others have. But he seems to get a pass.

I neeeever watch this show, but I was bored yesterday and saw part of his show.
It was kind of a nice one; he wasn't tormenting anyone for once LOL; he gave a lot of goodies away thanks to various advertisers. A man with very painful recurrent hemophilia related disorders, got all types of thigns to make life nicer. A special van, handicapable home adjustments, a family cruise, etc. They gave the kids dirt bikes though and that worried me (even with the safety lessons along with it).
They helped another woman escape her verbally abusive husband, with some money and a year's free rent. Then they had Brooks & Dunn sing a song called "Believe" which really did pick me up and make me feel better, sap that I am. I rewound TiVo four times to hear it again
I do wish talk shows would be more about the guests than the host though. "Ordinary people" are always interesting if the interviewer has the gift to put them at ease and bring out their life stories. Everyone has a story I believe in that saying. But I don't like it when 'talk' shows go the mud wrestling route a la Jerry Springer or even Maury (although the "who won the DNA lotto" shows have me riveted).

concur, like we usually do. That was a good show, and kind of hard to watch. He seemed like a great family man unlike phil()

Maury's show is crazy. Praternity test results must do well, because that's every single show.
I sorta miss Ricki Lake, she had a good personality. And she had kind of a tough life, and was interesting.

Lol I agree with all that (as you said - as usual! Lol). I dunno if I'd have Phil choke himself though... well maybe just so it tickles.
I loved Ricki but I really wanted her to have guests who didn't all sound the same and/or had some teeth. I mean, she is more intelligent than to go the Jerry Springer route. At least, not all the time. Seemed like she had no problem pitting guests against each other, which was just lazy. Cos she could've put more effort into it than that. I liked her as a person though. Even if that sounds contradictory
A LOT of tv is lazy tv, so it's not her fault completely maybe. But she's giving in to it.
Yes, that family was so moving, the man with hemophilia, I can't imagine his suffering, not to be able to get in and out of a car. Well kind of, I was in bed a lot the past year with pain too, but with him it's been a lifetime. That family seemed very close, and healthy (emotionally) despite everything. It was nice to see them catch a break.
LOL about Maury, yes you're right. I get caught up in it too if I stumble across an episode - gotta see who did it! LOL How can so many people not even know??

Did anyone see Dr Phil yesterday? That show was probably the most disturbing show I have seen in a LONG time. It really makes me sad, and angry, because putting her on national tv was not the right place. This was a woman who was not in stable condition, and is truly "fragile"
It also reminded me of what Maury or Sally Jessy might do(bootcamp dude), they bring in a ex porn star, and tell her what she is doing is not good
Yesterday's episode was "trash television" Not the woman just the telecast.
Shame on you, Phil.

I totally agree with you regarding the alcoholic woman who was selling sexual favours for a bottle of beer.
Dr. Phil has become the new Jerry Springer.

I disagree. Jerry Springer says that his show is garbage everytime it's on the air.Dr.Phill is selling his show as a therapy session.

Oh, and not forget his wife and son who suddenly became experts too.

There opinions and thoughts are just as good as yours as mine. Phil is SOO0 money hungry.
When Phil had the woman one with substance abuse on, that was the most disturbing, piece of crap I have ever seen. I know people choose to go on these shows, but someone should of stepped in. I mean c'mon. They went into her having anal sex, and getting ecolie(sp) Phil yelling at her for 52 minutes isn't going to help. She needs help beyond help. Putting her on tv was the worst possible thing, someone could do.

I was watching "dr phil" and they had the woman on from "the swan" and she is now offended, if all a guy has to say to her "she's hot" and if that's all you have to say, say nothing.
Ummmm. Hello? You went on a reality show to be "shallow"
I am sure it is confusing to have tons of surgery, and then be treated differently. You should of thought about it before going on "the swan"
Pretty soon, there is going to be a reality show called "the therapist"
