ngoclong, with those character names and the scenes you describe, it's 100% "The Wonder Years", whether you believe it or not.

The Wonder's Years theme was Joe Cocker's "With A Little Help From My Friends"

The ending of the Wonder Years was bittersweet. I remember the last episode had the normal voice over of the adult Kevin giving commentary over the old Super 8mm home movies. I recall he said what became of Winnie and Paul, although I dont remember the specifics.

I think the most heart wrenching part was when he said his dad passed away at a fairly young age. All of the charecters and events on that show reminded me so much of my childhood as I grew-up in the same era as Kevin and his friends and it all hit so close to home.

The Wonder Years was "my" coming of age show and it was after being a fan of the show that I realized why my parents loved "American Grafitti" and "Happy Days" so much.
