    In-Laws on NBC New Comedy

    From the official site:

    PILOT
    8pm 09/24/02 ALL NEW!

JEAN SMART AND DENNIS FARINA STAR IN SERIES PREMIERE -- This cross-generational, domestic comedy from the producers of NBC's "Frasier" features newlyweds Matt (Elon Gold, "Clerks") and Alex (Bonnie Somerville, NBC's "Friends"), who move in with her parents (Dennis Farina, "Get Shorty," and Emmy Award winner Jean Smart, "Designing Women") to save money so Matt can attend cooking school. As soon as he crosses the threshold, Matt clashes with Victor Pellet (Farina), his overprotective, gruff father-in-law who owns a private security firm and routinely takes offense at every turn -- often insisting on much "private convo time." Meanwhile, Marlene (Smart), Matt's sleek mother-in-law, trades in her designer apron for a real-estate license while his new wife Alex works as a nurse. The misunderstandings and hair-trigger relationships make a rocky start for the exasperated Matt and Alex, whose every move is seemingly checkmated - especially when they loudly break Alex's hand-crafted childhood bed on their first night under the Pellet's roof. Not sure about this one, I might give it a look but I tend to find this type of comedy a little feeble.

This is going to have to be extremely well written for me to like it.
