Barbara's senator, that she tramped around with, is Edward Brooke. He should be turning 91 years old this October. He's currently on wife #2, if I understand correctly. They were fooling around in the '70s, while he was an official.

On the Whoopi topic, I really can't stand her "valley girl" impressions. She used to be the only saving grace of the current hosts. Someone PM me, please, if and hopefully when they replace even one of them.
If she said he was an African American Senator in that era there weren't a lot to choose from. No naming needed. (Although without having read the book, it's my impression that she did name him.)

Right, I get that point. I just meant that I hoped that she didn't name him in her book, without his permission (or his family's/heirs', if he had passed on). Actually, even with permission, I would have to wonder about the motive for naming names.

But I would never have bought or read the book anyway.

    And, thanks, prhoshay!

I thought Rielle's photo shoot was totally wacko. She was dressed in a mans dress shirt with only a string of pearls. Wrong on so many levels. It suggested to me that the woman had just arisen from her mans bed... put on his shirt (it was either that or her cloths from last night) ... and well the string of pearls - (I won't go there) ... and then they had to throw in the symbolism of the love child having the bed filled with stuffed animals... Tacky!! and I agree that having been behind the camera as a professional... she knew exactly how the photo's would come across.

It just seems so grossly out of place and inappropriate, which is probably why she did it. She's putting herself out there as if what she did was this wonderful thing. it's as if she has no filter. Oh wait a minute...

eta: the shoot for not for Maxim, it was for GQ.

LOL well the mere fact that some may confuse the shoot as for Maxim speaks volumes!

    Re: The View

It was so ridiculous for her to claim she thought they were only taking head shots.
Why take your pants off then? I guess it's just her default setting.
Apparently there's behind the scenes footage of the shoot on the internet where she can be clearly seen in her white shirt and pearls get up looking at the shots the photographer had taken.
I haven't seen the footage so I don't know if she can actually be seen looking at herself photographed full-length with no pants on.
Even if they genuinely did tell her they would only be printing head shots it still doesn't explain why she took off her pants. She's utterly ridiculous.

The whole discussion about her was pointless, imo and was just an excuse for Babs to mention Hunter had called her.
Whoopi's insistence that a happily married may would not have an affair seemed far too simplistic too and also sounded like she was trying to excuse herself for being "the other woman" in the past too.
I found myself agreeing with Elisabeth yet again on that issue. Many marriages go through ups and downs and are more vulnerable at times.
I obviously don't think a married man should have an affair, but I also don't excuse the mistress if she knowingly slept with a married man.
Whoopi presented a very simplictic view of what can be an extremely complicated situation.

There was no point in Kate being there today.
I don't think it was appropriate for her to be there when the theme of the show was so heavy.
She barely contributed to the show at all beyond Hot Topics, during which she still wouldn't admit that she has nannies to help with the children.
I don't know why it's such an issue for her. Most people would expect someone with eight children to have help if they can possibly afford it, yet she hums and hars about being a mum and finding time to do various projects as if she has to fit it in around raising her chidlren alone.
    "That's Numberwang!"
