I think Sherri is right, the Cookie Monster does have some influence on very young kids, on what they eat, their choices. Parents have the ultimate say though. Companies, advertisements, that's why they're willing to spend thousands of dollars on them.

When did that happen? I saw Whoopi show her the card and admit she didn't write the question, and Michelle told Whoopi to show her where that quote is in her book, because it isn't there. She knows what's in her book, and I doubt that anyone from NBC even read it. I just started reading it, and it's about time someone did the research and exposed this administration for the frauds that they are, and it's about time someone stomped all over Whoopi and Joy for a change.

I do not agree about the influence issue. My kids aren't really into Sesame Street, but I clearly remember watching when I was a kid and Cookie Monster talked about all the other good stuff that was out their to eat like carrots, apples, and other fruits and veggies. I heard news that they went even further down the healthy eating path with this character over the last few years.

Furthermore, if watching Cookie Monster makes kids want to eat cookies, does it also make them want to stick their faces into a plate full of food to scarf down as much as possible? We teach our children that this is not an appropriate way to eat just as we can teach them that cookies are okay only in moderation.

Even if cookie monster makes kids want to eat cookies isn't it the parents that buy that crap for the kids?

Sounds like you missed the very few last seconds of the show, then. It came at the usual same time that Whoop says, "Take some time to enjoy YOUR view!".

I was just thinking the same thing.

Unfortunately, you had to be "listening very fast" to get her exact words, but she showed something she had been given (by the "ear people") saying that someone, (Malkin, I'm thinking) had used the exact words of that were in dispute on one of the morning talk shows just that day. And Whoop was rushed in showing/saying them since the show was going off the air. I don't think I still have the recording of the show, but it is supposed to be on the ABC site.

And did Whoopi and Joy get "stomped all over"...can't say that was what I witnessed. What I witnessed was more of the FOX commentator style of screaming by Malkin that seems to be the norm, as opposed to the exception.

I loved the audience reaction, which was luke-warm at best, when they were informed that they'd all be getting a copy of her book.

    Re: The View

The food segment on the show yesterday was a hot mess.
As each co-host was stationed at a table where they were supposed to have the best version of their favourite food there was really no reason for Elisabeth to escort the guest around the tables incessantly yapping at each one.
I'm sure the guest could have been trusted to walk the few steps to each table and chat to the co-host stationed there.

Sherri was very passionate about Cookie Monster's diet the day before and the manner in which he shoved food in his face, then proceeded to eat in exactly the same way.
They should have all just stayed at their own tables then mingled to discuss the food as they went to break.
Whoopi didn't get the chance to do her favourite schtick of walking on camera and taking food, for someone who is so disinterested in food she often forgets to eat, she certainly thinks creeping behind the guest and co-host to grab food is a hoot. It was funny the first time, now I just sit there waiting for her to materialize, get whatever reinforcement she needs from the guest or co-host and leave. Come on, mention how hilarious it is that Whoopi's snuck on again so she can leave and you can get back to discussing the food.
I'm also over the face she pulls when she doesn't like the food. She just had to stand by the potato pizza podium with a look of disgust on her face. It's not enough to just say, "I don't like it".

The whole segment was such a mess.
    "That's Numberwang!"
