Oh--I wish they would start giving Whoopi better info about the stories they want her to discuss. Her comments about the pistachio contamination with Salmonella were ignorant of the facts.

She kept wondering "why" and "how" the pistachios were contaminated and why they "couldn't just be washed."

Someone needs to tell her that the contamination comes from the soil when the workers eliminate in the fields and/or from animal contaminants--like cow elimination products--that get into the soil.

So the Samonella organisms are inside the pistachios--not on the outside. Washing won't do any good.

This was also true for the spinach Samonella contamination.

I don't like it when Whoopi sounds like she doesn't know what she's talking about.

    She needs better researchers.

Oh well, I don't like stupid pistachios, anyway.

Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls is a guest today!! I absolutely LOVE her! I hope they show a GG clip. They probably will be talking about Guys and Dolls though, because that is what Lauren is doing right now. Nevertheless, I LOVE her!

Elisabeth has got a serious case of the giggles today. It's a pregnancy thing, no doubt.

I remember giggling like that when I would take the herb, St. John's Wort, and since I love to laugh, it was a blast!

    Re: The View

Poor Whoopi--yet another factual gaffe today. I don't know if this was fed to her or if it was hers.

She said something about "April Fools' Day spreading from the US and getting popular in France and other coutnries now."

Well--the truth is that historically many cultures in Europe--like France, England etc have had some sort of "Fools' Day" in the spring for hundreds of years.

In one country--I think France (I'd have to look at my notes from Social History class and they're in storage) it actually started out as a day when everyone did things the opposite of normal.

For example a jester or "Fool" took the role of the king and paraded around in the streets all day and women were allowed to do "unfeminine" things that they ordinarily would not be allowed to do in public like walking around unescorted and talking loudly (IE acting "like men")

I learned that in my Women's Studies class--it's a famous example of the standards of behavior many cultures had traditionally for women.

Anyway--poor Whoopi--somebody misinformed her into thinking that April Fools' Day was an American custom that is now "spreading to other countries."

    *sigh*

I found Elisabeth to be quite insufferable during the flight simulator piece.
If they must keep pushing her to the forefront (it's becoming The Elisabeth Hassselbeck Hour) could they at least invest in some speech classes to temper down the grating nature of her voice?
Either that or turn down her mic a couple of notches.
I don't think she shut up through that entire piece.
Her constant jabbering made it very hard to hear what the pilot was saying.

I don't know why they can't ask a guest a question and wait for him/her to answer without chipping in and putting the guest off their stroke.
We see that so often. A guest will be mid answer, one of the hosts will chip in and the guest is forced off track. So irritating.

ITA. I was looking forward to the segment, but I ended up turning the tv off because EH kept chattering on and on. She drives me nuts.

On another note... if Sherri and Elizabeth are such huge fans of Dancing with the Stars, tell me why they both mispronounced Gilles name?
    (on yesterdays show that is)

Fluff--her grammar is awful too. I've norticed that she's often spoken sentences in which the subject and verb don't agree.

Like "They was going to the play." For example perposes only. I can't remember what she said today but it was grating. I wasn't watching. only listgening while typing--but I suspect that Whoopi winced if onl internally.
