My thoughts on the interview Star had with Larry King...

She was very gracious. She spoke very clearly and answered the questions with direct answers. I did not get any bad vibes off the interview.

The thing that stood out to me was the whole issue about her making the announcement about leaving on tuesdays show. After having to "suck it up" since April 21st that she had no job.

ABC told Star to make up a lie to why she was leaving so they could release it... which Star knew would come back to bite her on the ass. Star did not want to lie about her leaving. And we alllll know had she... she would be in a bigger sh*t storm than what is going on now.

Star also stated that she had told ABC that she did not want some "montage" or "Day of Star moments" as was propsed for the thursday show. Which I can not blame her. She knows why she is out of there... and she is done. No need to play kissy face with a group of people who want her gone. She had wanted to make a simple announcement and move on. Which is exactly what she did...

Star also stated that ABC made the decisions about her staying after dumping her. Star stated that she wanted to leave back in April. But ABC said no...

    And also....

ABC nor Miss Walters or the other producers of "The View" had the decency to tell Star about them dropping her.

Some lackie in the ABC office had to call Star's agent or manager to tell them.. to tell Star.

That not once did anyone with ABC, Walters or the producers come to her and tell her they were going in a "new direction". And never did. Not once did Barbara or Bill or any ABC person come talk to her about anything. Yet they kept on leaking the stuff to the press.

But interesting enough... Star stated that last November 2005... that she saw a blurb in one of the NY daily newspaper about her being dropped from the show.

Star went in and spoke directly to "Bill" about seeing this... who then told her, to her face, that there was no truth to it. Which was a lie. He had known since September 2005 that she would not being returning after her contract expired.

Yes... ABC has spent months lying to Star... but kept on leaking ugly comments about her to the press.

Ohhhhh and all the official "ABC" and Barbara Walters comments were just sad and tasteless. And from the look on Larry King's face... he thought so too.

First of all.... I never have consider Barbara Walters all that bright. But she sure has shown off how nasty she can be when she can't control what is thought about her. haha!

And just to be snarky....I also recall.... Barbara Walters got bounced off 20/20-Primetime last year. Makes me wonder if they used the same lackie (who called Star's agent) was used to call Walters, Agent-Manager, to deliver that news. Walters would not have given up that spot with that kind of cash for her minimal input-work, on her own.

Maybe this is ABC way of getting rid of Barbara and The View is by killing it off with their "new direction".

Next thing you know... it is the "Rosie O'Donnel Morning Show" and Walters is out on her butt.

They at the view had ask her to say her piece on Thursday but she did it on Tuesday and I just think they are mad because of that. Star said when they send and told her that her contract was not been renewed she wanted to leave right there and then, but they asked her to stay until July 13.

The rumours and leaks I think is what got her feed up and she decide to take things in to her hands and just let it out. She did not say anything bad on the view just that the show was going in another direction and she wont be back.

I see nothing wrong with that, but she did not do it at their convenience and make up a story as they wanted and that is what this hubhub is about. She did not go the root and say I am moving on to another opportunity to satisfy their dismissal of her that is what it is all about.

The way they told her was rude, for all the years that she put in there, the last two months must have been hell. They should have let her go the same time as she wanted, but no they rub Rosie in her face and if what she said is true about finding out on the 21 of April that she was been let go, and they a few days later that Rosie is coming, it must have hurt like hell to sit there just so that they can send off Meredith in style and then belittle like she was nothing.

She was not even told by Barbara who hired her, she was told by her husband, who got it from the manager, who got it from the agency that represent her. Did she kill somebody that they could not tell her to her face? that was harsh. Joy acting like she did not know I do not believe either they must have all known.

At the EMMYS I did notice how Barbara was acting strange and that something was going on, and for them to bring Rosie out like that as Star said and told the world that they had asked her to join the view knowing that they just tell her the day before say something. They did not give her time to even get her head rap around the situation, she must have been really hurt.

9 yrs of her life went into that show and that is the way they repay her for her services. I know not all opinions is the same, and I don't expect any one to agree with me but give the dog some respect man where it is due.

One other thing, Star is a lawyer, and she was in television reporting before she got on the view so I'm sure she will be okay. It is a pity in hindsight that she did not stay where she was before and continue to be a lawyer, because that is what she was trained for, and then none of this would have happen.

But when god works he does in a mysterious way wonders to perform, she will be all right. Watching Larry King last night I don't think he was too impress with the response he had to read from ABC too, because we all now know that she found out in April and this decision was made in November last year and they lied to her from there until April, and then they asked her to lied too and kept her on, and one of the higher ups even let her sit at there table at the emmys dinner. Hypocrisy any one? all the while leeking information and stabbing her in her back?

what's going on here? those who couldn't stand star [i'm included] are now feeling sorry for her cuz ABC did what people have wanted ...boot her? she's had national exposure for 9 years, been paid A LOT of money...and became obnoxious and self centered. i'm glad she's gone and don't feel sorry for her. and typical...she's milking this for all she can. i'm shocked.

From the time the job began, it was emphasized that you give at least 2 weeks notice when you're ready to go.

They got 0 days notice and an email from me! Was I forced out? No, I made a choice. I think I may see Star's situation a little differently than most. At least for me, when you're through.......you're through. I think that's what I recognized in Star.
I seriously doubt you're the only one that has ever quit a job because you were disillusioned with the company or your bosses. But the difference between you and Star is that you chose to quit. She didn't. She chose to speak out on the very television show that has paid her for 9 years and continued to pay her check. Using your empathetic analogy, she should have and could have quit.

bbnbama... thanks for the help; that's exactly what I meant. While Star is being paid by ABC, she does not have the right to do what she did on their platform, (ie: on their stage, on their show, using their airwaves,) to talk negatively about whatever her work situation was. Sure, she chose her words carefully and didn't get mean and nasty, but the negativity was there. And she certainly shouldn't have already given the People interview that she had given. I don't begrudge her her honest feelings... but her timing and her location sucked.

I really think the way she handled it was fine, but since we had already heard all the other gossip, it made it seem worse than it was, by far. If we hadn't been hearing for months that she wouldn't be back, then it would have just seemed like a gracious way to exit. As it happened it had a sort of sour grapes taste to it. I saw nothing objectionable about the way she handled her announcement and thought she handled it with class, which is quite rare for that show.

I don't fault Star at all for not going into her personal business about her weight loss. If she'd come on there gushing (and we all know that Star can gush) about her fabulous doctor and her bypass surgery, or whatever, and some fool had gotten it done and had a bad result, then she would have been in a real pickle. It's sad to me, but we all know that many people look up to these tv folks and are willing to do anything, just because THEY did. I think it's better that she said nothing. And like I said, why is it anyone's business?

Star did say last night that she is working on a project in which she will have her own show. It will be interesting what that might be.

    I did not

see her interview with Larry King, but the headline said something about her wanting the viewers to know the truth and this is why she did what she did. If I am not mistaken, she was always welcome to tell the truth. I don't think that Barbara or Bill ever told her to lie. What I have heard is that she could say "whatever she wanted to and they would back her up." That does not say that she should lie about it, only that they will agree with what ever she says. If she chose to tell the truth about it, she should have been honest with THEM and told them that she was going to announce it at a different time, and she should have told them that she had already talked to PEOPLE and that they would be breaking the story this week. If the show thought that she was going to make the announcement on Thursday and knew nothing about the PEOPLE interview, it doesn't surprise me that they got upset.
Somehow by reading what Star said, I got the impression that she thought that the show wanted her to lie. I don't get that impression at all. What they were allowing her to do was "save face" by saying whatever she wanted to, and she chose to tell the truth about the matter. She should have let them know what she was going to say though, so they wouldn't have been surprised.
I still have no sympathy for her. She had a contract. She had an agreement with the show. She did something that she did not tell them that she was going to do (PEOPLE and announcing it early.) She may have known that she was leaving as early as April, but she was contractually obligated to the show to stay until her contract ran out. I am sure that the show still paid her through the end of her contract. Why would they want to let someone making that much money go 5 months before their contract was up, knowing that they would probably have to pay them??

I wouldn't blame her at all, either, but for the fact that she lied. I believe I mentioned earlier in this thread that same position... that if she had gone on there promoting the benefits of gastric bypass then a lot of fools would have copied her and she would have left her open for a lawsuit if any failures occurred. But Star went on and lied and said she didn't have medical intervention (granted, most times she just said that she didnt want to talk about it, but there were several occasions where she blatantly stated that she did NOT have medical assistance. The lie is just as damaging, if not more so, than the truth.

She said she had medical assistance, she just did not say what. It took her three years to loose the weight so what is the big deal, for the last 2 years everyone saw her shrinking, she did not have to give people information about her health, that is her business. She would have stuck to the schedule given to her to talk thursday but things got out of hand as she say the leaks. It is because of that why she just tell eveything and done with it. The show wanted a good image and wanted their say in how it was said, but because she did not give it to them that is why this is happening.

I've never been a big Barbara fan AT ALL, but she's a business woman. I thought it was very telling that back in November, according to the ABC statement on LKL, Barbara went to bat for Star and Star didn't seem to realize that.

The timeline makes sense. Star caught wind of this and went to Bill to ask about it. He denied it and he was right to do so. Barbara was in the process of giving Star another chance without letting Star know that her job was in jeopardy. In her way, she was protecting Star and I think was also trying to spare her feelings. As they said in the statement, ABC's problem was her public persona, not her actions on the show, and Star had a book coming out. I think Star values honesty, but she clearly is an emotional person and like Barbara had said, it was around Christmas. I think Barbara believed Star would keep her job.

Again, this is a business situation, not about making friends. I personally think Bill should have admitted the truth to Star, but I can understand why he didn't. At that moment, she was not in jeopardy of losing her job. It doesn't sound like a firm decision had been made about whether to renew her contract or not.

In many cases when employees are fired, they are escorted out the door. It sounded like both parties had agreed to Star making the announcement on Thursday and staying on until mid-July. For someone that values honestly, why couldn't she have given Bill or Barbara a heads up to tell them she was going to make the announcement on Tuesday. Sounds duplicitous to me and it sounds like someone that's become a loose cannon on live TV.

If I was let go from my job and had instructions to work until the end of the week, I would be expected to conduct myself in a professional manner. If I started complaining to clients or any outside parties, you can bet they would show me the door. They gave her an opportunity to leave amicably, which is more than many employers would do. Star burnt her bridge and ABC has every right to be upset with her.

For the record, I saw her on LKL last night and she handled herself fairly well. Oh, she was nauseating and condescending at times, but she did her best to remain calm and collected. I do feel sorry for her, but I tend to side with ABC on this one.
If you go through a lot of hammers each month, I don't think it necessarily means you're a hard worker.
It may just mean that you have a lot to learn about proper hammer maintenance.

Well you know that I miss half of what's said unless they're looking at me, but she said last night that she had never said that she didn't have medical intervention. I doubt that they would pull up the tapes to repute that claim, but if they did, then that would make them look a lot less like the heavy in this thing. As things stand, to me, and apparently a lot of other, the lies all seem to be on the side of the show and ABC.

And I still say that if Barbara had wanted Star on the show, she would be there.

Another think that I found interesting, if true, is that Star said that four of the highest rating shows were ones where she discussed her wedding. I personally didn't need to hear all that crap, but apparently many others did.
She said that it was discussed with the shows blessings. (My words, not hers, but same idea)
