    Re: The View

Kinda excited about tomorrow's episode that's completely dedicated to diet and weight loss...something I've been working on ever since the holidays ended! Hopefully I can learn something useful...

I have not watched since Rosie left and just started up again yesterday. Not out of blind allegiance for Rosie, just tired of it and needed a break.

I don't understand why Joy won't taste anything. I get that Eliz has a gluten allergy. I adore Joy, always have, but she gets very sassy when they have food segments of any kind. Is there something I don't know?

On the diet-themed show, the guy that lost the 400 pounds, the old fashioned way, was amazing! I couldn't help but wonder, though, where the hanging, extra skin was hiding. I'm sure if he had had it removed, he probably would have said so. Bless his heart. His determination was inspirational.

He did have the extra skin removed. They were featured on another program a few weeks ago (20/20 maybe, one like that). It showed him going into surgery with his trainer by his side. It's a sweet story but kind of pathetic that friendship would be such huge news - what does that say about society?

The show was a bit boring. I did like the baby-fat segment as it actually explained how you get it and what you can do to get rid of it. The friendship segment served as inspiration that you can lose weight with hard work, determination and support. So thumbs up there (plus the trainer was cute!). I found the diet segment a little irresponsible. Diets don't work long term. Once you get all that weight off and go back to eating normally you gain back most (or sometimes more) of the weight (both Whoopi & Joy eluded to that when they mentioned their Jenny Craig experiences). They would have better served their audience to go over long-term weight loss solutions, not short-term fads.

Thus the reason why diets don't work. It takes lifestyle changes. If you want to remain successful, you can't go back to eating exactly what you want, when you want. It's about changing your mindset. So few people get that.

Yep, I totally agree...in fact trying to do the "lifestyle change" part right now. I figure that feeling healthy is better than the taste of any delicious dessert, right?! Everything in moderation though The show on Friday really motivated me to keep it up though, that 400lbs-lost guy was pretty inspiring...if he can do it, I think anyone can. Plus, The View is a great show to watch while working out on the treadmill/elliptical/what have you!

Since I just started watching this again I have a question. I assume Whoppie has gotten email about her hair. Has she mentioned this? It is completely uneven and that may have been on purpose but it doesnt' look good at all, especially with a middle part where you expect symmetry. I like it shorter but I hate the sides not matching!

i never really paid much attention to it, but i don't think people care what their part looks like these days ... i've seen them zig zag, in small sections parting to the left and right, etc.

personally, my hair refuses to do anything i tell it to. part straight? yeah right.

I am not talking about her part! I said the sides of her hair are uneven. Haven't you ever gotten a bad haircut and found one side much shorter than the other. That is what is going on here.
