I will agree that there were two bits I thought were funny. The condom thing in the pilot and the bathroom part in the second episode. I hope they get to where they have more than one funny bit per episode, however.

well, i taped the british version of coupling when they ran a marathon on pbs, but i never watched it. so... i'm another that has nothing to compare the american version to. so i think it's fine. not great, but i definitely think it's watchable. and i really like rena sofer since her days on general hospital. i think she's gorgeous and easy to watch.

Well, I'm a huge fan of the British version, and I've watched both episodes of the American version. I'll probably keep watching the American version for now, but there's definitely no comparison--the British one is far better than its American counterpart. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm used to the British cast, but I think most of the people in the American version are horribly miscast. The American "Jeff", "Sally", and "Patrick" are the worst. The American "Steve" is tolerable, but Fluff's right...Jack Davenport is perfect in that part. Rena Sofer is OK as "Susan", but Sarah Alexander is far better. IMO, I guess Lindsay Price is the best of the American cast as "Jane", but she's definitely no Gina Bellman.

I'm going to give the show one last try.
I think I'm too "anti" to enjoy it now though.

i definitely agree that the american version is just not as good as the british. it's something about the "rhythm" I think. British comedy rhythm just doesn't work on American version.

I would have liked it more if they just showed the British version here. Yes, people will not get all of the humor, but hey I could watch it and think it's funnier than the American one ... it's what gives the show its "flavor."

Bad acting does play a part as well .. it sounds like they're just reading the script. Heck, I could act better!

I think another thing that might play into why the American version isn't as good is the length of the show. I read somewhere that the British version is 30 minutes long without commercials. The American version, on the other hand, is 30 minutes long including 8 minutes of commercials. That means that TPTB of the American version have to cut 8 minutes out of each episode that is included in the British version. I would guess this could have a major effect on the show's pace, timing, etc.

I haven't seen either version, and the adverts don't do anything to make me want to

I don't know how many of you have Directv, or the ability to receive BBC America, but they are currently airing the Original, British version of "Coupling" on BBCA. I am going to record it to be able to make a judgement.

I must say, I havent been a big fan of this show on NBC yet. timing and rhythm is way off. Hopefully I will enjoy the British version, although I will admit upfront that I havent been the biggest fan of british humour in the past.
